Protecting Your Kids
Coverage
Every eligible student attending public school in Prince Edward Island is automatically insured by The PEI School Accident Insurance Program’s student accident coverage. This coverage is provided without a deductible and at no cost to the students, parents/guardians, or schools. Coverage is provided for students and volunteer coaches during school hours, school activities, and community-based learning activities, and also during travel to and from school and community-based learning activities.
Who is Eligible?
All full-time elementary, intermediate, and senior high public school students in the province of Prince Edward Island who are covered under a Canadian federal and/or provincial health and hospitalization insurance plan are covered under the PEI School Accident Insurance Program. Please note that university, private school, day-care, community college, and foreign students are not eligible.

Protecting PEI’s children in case of accident or injury is what the PEI School Accident Insurance Program is all about. The program serves the following school boards.

When injury shall not result in the loss of life of an Insured Person within three hundred and sixty-five (365) days after the date of the accident but shall result in any of the following losses or paralysis within said three hundred and sixty-five (365) days, the Insurer will pay for:
Coverage School Day and School Activities
Accidental Loss of Life $25,000
Loss of Both Hands or Both Feet $25,000
Loss of Entire Sight of Both Eyes $25,000
Quadriplegia (complete paralysis of both upper and lower limbs)
$50,000
Paraplegia (complete paralysis of both lower limbs)
$50,000
Hemiplegia (complete paralysis of upper and lower limbs on one side of the body)
$50,000
Loss of One Hand and One Foot $25,000
Loss of One Hand and the Entire Sight of One Eye
$25,000
Loss of One Foot and the Entire Sight of One Eye
$25,000
Loss of One Arm $20,000
Loss of One Leg $20,000
Loss of Speech $18,750
Loss of Hearing in Both Ears $18,750
Loss of One Hand $18,750
Loss of One Foot $18,750
Loss of the Entire Sight of One Eye $18,750
Loss of Thumb and Index Finger of One Hand or at least Four Fingers of One Hand
