Litigation

We have solid knowledge on rights defense before local and federal courts, in ordinary, executive and special proceedings.

Our involvement in judicial and administrative matters is focused on effectiveness either in defending the integrity of our client’s patrimony, or seeking the recovery of any economic and moral compensation from defendants, resulting from a breach of contract.

Cont.

Corporate.- Under this area, our firm supports its clients with the study of the law and applicable regulation involving the environment, creation, sustainability, and winding up of partnerships, and corporations.

Among other areas, we specialize in the drafting of articles of incorporation, meeting minutes, and shareholders meetings; as well as the counseling in mergers and acquisitions, dissolutions or liquidations.

Contracts.- Our Attorneys are specialists in the drafting and creation of domestic and international agreements, treaties, and contracts that fit our client’s requirements, ensuring that their needs are fully protected in any legal transaction they undertake. Some examples are: Sales, rent, lease, mortgage, trust and deposit agreements.

Cont. Arbitration and Mediation.- Notwithstanding the apparent

similitude to litigation, this legal area entails dispute resolution by alternative means, which offer ample flexibility to the parties, enabling them to avoid searching for court remedies that may be slow, expensive, and end in unfair resolutions due to the lack of specialized knowledge. We serve clients either from the perspective of their rights defense or by being appointed as mediators or arbitrators, aiming to arrive at an appropriate solution for the conflict.

Insurance and Reinsurance.- The attorneys of VSO, S.C. are widely familiarized with these complex legal institutions, and as such our services include, among others, the study of insurance policies, reinsurance contracts and cover notes, either for insured, insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as regulatory compliance matters.

Criminal Law.- We advise our clients in the defense or filing of criminal lawsuits and complaints for acts that may presumably imply criminal behavior, either in the investigation before the Public Prosecutor’s office, or in judicial proceedings before local or federal courts.

Marine.- The firm also haves experts in this very specialized area, with proved experience acquired in the field, advising clients throughout Central America.

We advise our clients in proceedings before the Federal Communications and Transports Ministry (SCT), particularly before the General Ports Coordination (CGPMM), as well as the related entities and authorities. In the obtainment of navigation permits, registration of vessels, flags etc., as well as everything related with P&I insurance.

Environmental.- The firm has specialists in procedures enacted before the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry and its different regulatory bodies, and local environmental authorities; In the compliance with certifications tending to the protection of the environment. Legal counseling in Environmental lawsuits; Procedures related with environmental impact studies, generation, transport and management of hazardous materials, permits and registries before the applicable authorities.

Employment and Labor.- The firm gives legal counsel and support regarding the correct integration of our clients’ labor relationships, on the rights and duties that result from those, and their defense before the administrative and labor tribunals.
