SonoLab Noise Attenuation Programme (SNAP)

SNAP is an objective system which is not reliant on the user in any way. It quantifies the Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR) by taking an average across seven different frequency ranges, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 8000 hertz. It measures the sound levels inand out of the ear by way of a microphone fitted into the plug, and then the plug inserted into the ear. The levels are then recorded and a fully accredited certificate produced. SNAPproduces a PAR not only for each employee, but also for each of his or her ears. This is important because each individual experiences a slightly different level of attenuation from other people, and because no two ear canals are ever exactly the same.
