Melbourne, VICOur Melbourne campus is close to the famous Victoria Markets as well as shopping and restaurant districts. With many university and college campuses located nearby, it’s a popular area with students and is easily accessible by train, bus or tram.

Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) CRICOS Course Code: 027955D

Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese Medicine that stimulates specific points on the body in order to regulate the flow of Qi (vital energy) to balance the functions of the body, mind and spirit and to restore health. Chinese Medicine combines theory (philosophy and principles) and practices such as acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Chinese dietary therapy, Qi Gong, and massage (Tui Na).

This four-year full time course provides graduates with the knowledge and skills to become successful acupuncture practitioners. As well as foundation studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the course includes appropriate Western medical sciences, interpersonal skills, research methodology, in-depth studies of clinical acupuncture, and elective units on topics of special interest.

Career paths:

Acupuncture graduates usually enter clinical practice, either alone or as a partner in a healthcare clinic. Other employment opportunities include research, social welfare and in community health service settings. Endeavour’s Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) degree graduates may apply for membership of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association Ltd., Australian Natural Therapists Association, Australian Traditional-Medicine Society and the Federation of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Societies of Australia Inc.

Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) CRICOS Course Code: 028648G

Naturopathy is a whole medical system combining theory (philosophy and principles) and practice that uses an array of natural therapies to support healing and maintain health. Its core principle, “the healing power of nature”, guides the naturopath’s use of nutrition, dietary counselling, herbal medicine, manual therapies, flower essences, lifestyle education, homeopathy and other modalities to treat illness and restore health.

Naturopathy uses the holistic principles of Hippocrates to treat the underlying cause and the whole patient, not just the symptoms, to educate the patient and develop preventative measures to reduce recurrence. The naturopathic clinician facilitates this process through teaching and providing a range of holistic medicines.

The study of naturopathic discipline includes herbal medicine, diet and nutrition, flower essence therapy, nutritional supplementation, naturopathic diagnostic techniques including iris analysis, along with a general understanding of many other forms of therapy.

Career paths:

Naturopathy graduates generally enter clinical practice, either alone or as a partner in a healthcare clinic. Other exciting career opportunities include education community health service settings, social welfare, sales, manufacturing and working in health retreats.

Bachelor of Health Science (Myotherapy) CRICOS Course Code: 089453B

Myotherapy is a branch of manual medicine that focusses on the treatment and management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Myotherapy involves an extensive physical evaluation and an integrated therapeutic approach in the treatment of affected muscles, joints and nerves.

Myotherapists assess and treat the musculoskeletal system using various specialised soft tissue techniques. These include myofascial release techniques, muscle energy techniques, neuromuscular techniques and stretching techniques to prevent and alleviate pain and enhance movement and function. Myotherapists can significantly contribute to the fields of pain management, acute and chronic injury, and rehabilitation.

Career paths:

Myotherapists may practice independently as a sole trader, or provide treatment in conjunction with other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary setting. Myotherapists commonly work alongside other allied health practitioners such as medical practitioners, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, acupuncturists and naturopaths. Other career options include working with sporting teams, working in rehabilitation or community health services centres.

The holistic philosophy and framework that underpins Endeavour’s Bachelor of Health Science (Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine) will prepare students for a successful career in a dynamic and rewarding profession.

Holistic nutritionists approach disease prevention and management through a multidimensional lens. Nutrient adequacy, food quality, dietary behaviours and lifestyle are assessed so that individualised Nutrition Care Plans can be developed.

Scientific evidence, ethics and sound clinical reasoning guide practice to ensure that diet and supplement recommendations are efficacious and safe. Holistic nutritionists integrate traditional food wisdom and current evidence to motivate individuals and communities to eat well and live healthier lives.

Career paths:

Growing awareness of the importance of dietary needs, vitamins and minerals within the marketplace has resulted in an increased demand for trained practitioners.

Graduate nutritionists may choose to enter clinical practice, either in private practice or in an integrative or other healthcare settings. Additional employment opportunities include corporate health, nutritional consulting in various health-related businesses, complementary medicine safety and compliance, complementary medicine nutrition education, nutraceutical innovation and development and nutraceutical sales and marketing. There are a range of post graduate opportunities in nutrition and public health that are open to Endeavour graduates.

These levels have been set to ensure the student will have the ability to successfully engage in study.

Applicants with English as their native language are not required to undertake an assessment of their English skills. A high school transcript or subsequent qualification would be sufficient evidence that education was conducted in the English language.

Visa requirementsWhat is an International Student?Endeavour defines an International Student as someone who is not an Australian citizen, permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen. This definition includes students studying onshore on a range of visas. Information that applies only to students studying on specific visa classes (e.g. Student Visa) will be specified when relevant. Endeavour College of Natural Health is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) to deliver courses to international students studying on a student visa.

Student visasThere are a number of visa subclasses accepted for study by Endeavour College of Natural Health.

Higher Education (500)

Applies to a Bachelor degree:

T You must meet the conditions of your student visa at all times

T Report any change to your enrolment to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA)

T A full time (100%) study load must be undertaken unless a reduced workload is approved due to compassionate or compelling circumstances

Temporary visa holders

Australian international temporary visas are varied and many subclasses of visa may be eligible to study in Australia. Please confirm with DHA that your visa allows you to study prior to enrolling at Endeavour.

Important things to note about temporary visas:

T If your visa doesn’t cover the length of the course, you must provide Endeavour with a statement that explains the way in which you intend to complete the course

T All visa matters are handled by DHA. Endeavour accepts no responsibility if students are unable to complete their course due to complications with visas

Insurance requirementsOverseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is insurance to assist international students meet the costs of medical and hospital care that they may need while in Australia. OSHC will also pay limited benefits for pharmaceuticals and ambulance services.

Who has to take out OSHC?People who must take out OSHC are overseas students undertaking formal studies in Australia and their dependents (for example, spouses and children under 18 years old). The OSHC must cover the full duration of the visa.

Which countries are exempt?Belgian, Norwegian and some Swedish students are not required to purchase OSHC as part of their visa requirements.

How do I purchase OSHC?You can arrange to pay for your OSHC through Endeavour College of Natural Health or you can purchase OSHC online by visiting the OSHC insurers’ websites. You retain the right to choose your own OSHC provider even when your educational institution makes a specific recommendation because they have negotiated a preferred provider arrangement with a particular insurer.
