The design of the JOSKIN slurry spreaders is based on 3 main ideas
Self-supporting vehicles
The JOSKIN MODULO2 range has a monocoque supporting struc-ture: the tank is welded to a so-called "integral" cradle on the whole length and width. This galvanized assembly is designed to take on, as much as possible, the strains exerted by the hitching and running gear.
independent chassis
The independent chassis is espe-cially designed by JOSKIN in order to combine strength and flexi-bility. This chassis, called "Universal" chassis, is completely independent and takes on all the stresses the sprea-der is subjected to. In this way, the tank is totally protected against vibrations. Moreover, the chassis can be fitted with a 4-point linkage in order to hitch aspreadingtool(injectors,booms).
Multi-module carriers
The notion of multifunctionality is another very important principle at JOSKIN, on which the CARGOconcept is based: with one single car-rier, you will alternately get a slurry tanker, a silage trailer, an agricultural tipping trailer or a muck spreader.

chooSing thE running gEArThe adequate running gear must be chosen according to the capacity of the tank, the distances covered and above all the legis-lation in force.
Thenumberofaxlesdependsonmanyfactors.Firstofall,youwillhavetotakethetechnicalpropertiesofthechosentyresintoaccount(loadindex),butabovealltheavailabletractionpower.Moreover,amaximumtotalloadperaxleisimplementedbythelaw(PVA,TÜV,MINES,...)inordertomakethemachinesafetouse,toprotectthe soil structure and not to damage the road.
The distance between the farm and the fields remains of utmost importance. Vehiclesdesigned tocover longdistanceson the roadmustbeequipped insuch a way as to protect the mechanical components of your tool and to im-prove the driving comfort. According to the capacity of the tank, we will tend to choose double- or even triple-axle running gears.

The Modulo2 slurry spreaders in single-axle version are standard fitted with a fixed axle and can be fitted with a running gear suspension with parabolic leaves. As they are slightly curved and mounted between the axle and the bracket, the parabolic lea-ves do not increase the height of the vehicle. They are very flexible as they are quite long, which increases the driving comfort.

JOSKIN assembles its own boggies, thereby offering per-sonally adapted boggies to suit to each slurry tanker.
The distance between the leaves and the axle square are ele-ments adaptable to each machine.

Single axle suspension
JOSKIN roll-over boggieThanks to their design, the double-axle vehicles with Roll-Over boggie offer an extra suspension system of the wheels and a larger contact surface with the ground. The boggie is made up of 2 axles linked by parabolic leaves and fixed to the chassis by means of a central point. This concept makes it possible to counterbalancethegroundunevenness(upto+/-240mm). Thankstothepositionofthecross-axis(undertheleaves)andthe upper position of the axles at the ends of the leaves, the drawline pushes the front axle over the obstacle. The traction power needed is moreover reduced. That is why this system is advised in case of intensive use on uneven ground.

running gEAr SuSpEnSion
Hydro-TandemSimplicity, axle travel and stability: these are the three keywords for the Hydro-Tandem running gear. The Hydro-Tandem combines the following advantages: the axles can be easily pul-ledovertheobstacles(boggie)andtheyaresemi-independent(tandem).That iswhy it allowsa significant clearance (up to+/-250mm).
Given the conception and construction of the JOSKIN Hydro-Tandem, the vehicles have a very large contact surface on the ground. The ground compression is largely reduced and the ground structure is therefore better protected. The stability of the vehicle will therefore be significantly impro-ved. Each axle is pulled by leaves attached to a fixing element which is located ahead of the axle.
Fourhydrauliccylindersareplacedtwoby twoonbothsidesof the chassis. The cylinders of a same side are linked to each
other in closed circuit and the oil flow takes place according to the communicating vessels principle.
Hydro-TridemThe choice of a tridem is often induced by larger and larger load capacities, by the length of the vehicle and the maximum load supported by the axles. Its design provides a larger contact sur-facewiththeground.Theloadisdistributedoverthe6wheelsand,consequently,evenlydistributedontheground.Finally,itreinforces the stability of the carriage.
The independent double hydraulic circuit works according to thecommunicatingvesselsprinciple.The6hydrauliccylinderson both side of the chassis are linked 3 by 3 and allow a clea-rance up to 250 mm.
Sincethecircuitsoneachsideofthevehicleareindependent,there is a clearance with automatic adjustment of the position of the tridem on both sides. This allows the tandem to always stay in a perfect horizontal position behind the tractor while dri-ving. This horizontality is obtained, not only edgeways, but also crossways. This explains that the vehicle does not incline when driving on winding roads.
The reactivity of the mechanism is guaranteed by the use of large section hydraulic pipes. Two height sensors are mounted on both sides of the chassis for the height adjustment system, either directly connected to a hydraulic function of the tractor or controlledwithanelectricfunction(notelectrohydraulic).
The lifting axle is standard mounted on all "Hydro-Tridem" vehi-cles.The automatic height adjustment is standard fitted on all triple-axle vehicles.

JOSKIN offers two types of steering axles: the free steering axle and self steering axle.
PrincipleThe free steering axle follows the direction determined by the tractor. The oscillation range is more or less 15° on each side of the front tyre axis.Todriveontheroad(>15km/h)ortoreverse,anultra-powerfulhydrauliclockingdeviceperfectlyalignstherunninggearwiththefront axle and makes the carriage safe to use. Two shock-absorbers stand for the stability of the free steering axle by preventing too significant vibrations.

Self steering axle(s)(steering when reversing And driving forward)
PrincipleThis type of axle is driven from the tractor by way of a hydraulic circuit operating a "steering" cylinder, also called a "sensor" cylinder, which is fixed to the drawbar by a knee-joint. The system is balanced by the compensated cylinders, which exert a similar force in both directions but do not have to be connected to the tractor. As the self steering system automatically corrects the position of the vehicle to take it out of ruts, it turns out to be the safest and easiest solution.The"Hydro-Tridem"runninggearsarestandardfittedwithadoubleselfsteeringsystem(frontandrear axle).

An inner partition is bolted at the front of the tank (1/3)and allows to keep as much weight as possible on the eye-let when spreading, thereby improving grip and drive.
filling phaseThe volumes before and behind the partition are simultaneous-ly set under depression in order to fill the tank completely
Emptying phaseThe volume behind the partition is set under pressure (rearvolume) in order to keep the front part filled.When the slurry level reaches the lower edge of the partition, an air indraft is created towards the front part in order to empty it.
This weight transfer system is particularly suitable to tankers fitted with a rear spreading tool.

BrAking SyStEmS
The type of brake system fitted on your spreader obviously de-pends on the equipment of your tractor.JOSKIN can equip its slurry tankers with the following systems:
The mechanical brakes refer to the manual braking system mounted on Modulo2 slurry tankers up to 4000 litres. Actually, it is a parking brake, which means that the vehicle can only be stopped by the tractor. This is the reason why this braking system is only available on spreaders of maximum 4000 litres.
MECHAniCAl BrAKES
The air braking system remains, for the mo-ment, the system giving the greatest flexibility and power.As the loads transported are ever-increasing, it is absolutely necessary to have the most efficient braking system.TheQuadra,X-Trem,EurolinerandVacu-CARGOtankersarestandard fitted with this type of braking system.

The hydraulic brakes re-main the most common type of braking system. Modulo2(>5.000l),Kom-fort2 and Cobra tankersare standard fitted with this system.
HYdrAuliC BrAKES
Formachines thatcanbehitched toseve-raltractors,thedualbrakingsystem(madeup of hydraulic and air brakes) is offered in option on the whole range of slurry tankers.
duAl BrAKES
The automatic reverse inertia brake is mainly mounted in Germany onvehicles up to 7000 litres and is similar to the bra-king system used on small road trailers: when the trailer ''catches up'' with the tractor, the system engages the brakes. This system is at the same time safe and comfortable. The axle is of the ''automatic reverse'' type: actual-ly, one has to make sure that the brakes are not locked when reversing.

The spreaders fitted with air brakes have a standard 3-position manualbrakingregulator(fullyloaded,half-loaded,unloaded).
In option, the standard regulator can be replaced by a device that regulates the braking power in proportion to the load, which is measured by a level float gauge.
When your spreader is fitted with a hy-draulic suspension, the braking system in proportion to the load may be opera-ted by a proportional regulator connec-ted to the hydraulic circuit of this axle suspension. The quantity of air allowed in the air braking circuit will depend on the pressure in the hydraulic circuit.

The parking stand supports the vehicle when it is not hitched but it must be retracted while driving, so that the machine can move freely. Here are the different stands for the JOSKIN"Slurrytankers"programme:

This system is fitted on vehicles with small and mediumcapacity(2.490litresto8.590litres).

The hydraulic skid with direct connec-tion to the tractor is designed to get a great compromise between parking stability and driving clearance. Stan-dard on Quadra, X-Trem and Vacu-CARGO.

The double stand guarantees an even better stability of the vehicle. It is spe-cially designed for high-capacity vehi-cles.StandardonEuroliner.
JOSKIN offers 3 types of hitching eyelets: fixed, swivelling or with knee-joint. Today, the knee-joint eyelet is the most commonly used for intensive use.
ForGermany,theJOSKIN tankers are fitted either with the Rockinger eye-let(fixed)orwiththeScharmüllereyelet(withknee-joint).

Hydropneumatic suspensionMounted on cylinder with one or two nitrogen balls, it offers an unexpec-ted flexibility. Available for the whole range of slurry tankers.
lengthways suspensionThe lengthways spring leaves, that are placed at the back of the draw-bar, give an ideal clearance.This suspension is only fitted on Cobra.
Silent-blocksThese rubber blocks provide the ma-chine with a good clearance without distorting the drawline of the vehicle. This suspension is usually used on tankers that are equipped with a Gardasystemorwithaspiralpump.

All JOSKIN slurry tankers are equipped with the electric lighting system conforming to theregulations(lightingboxes).The Komfort2, Cobra, Quadra,X-Trem, Euroliner and Vacu-CARGOarestandardfittedwithdouble "truck"-type lights (op-tion on Modulo2). This type of lighting is combined with lateral lights(compulsoryforcertifica-tion in Belgium, and in option on all models).Supports on the tank are alsofitted for extra lighting as the flashing beacon and the rear workinglights(option).
MudguardsAll JOSKINslurrytankerscanbeequippedwithgalvanizedmudguards(standardondoubleandtripleaxle).
They are designed in a modular way, so that they can be adapted to the size of the wheels and the position of the running gear. In this way, the machines with possible wheel recessing have, in any case, a mudguard bolted to the tank, both in single and double axle.Themodelswithoutrecessingwillhavethemudguardsboltedtoabracketofthecradle(forModulo2),tothetank(EurolinerandVacu-CARGO)ortothechassis(forothermodels).
It is to be noted that on double and triple axle models, the mudguards are also used as hose-carrying devices and are therefore fitted with hooks.

VACuuM system
The vacuum system uses the atmospheric pressure to fill the tank(thanks to thepressuredifference).Toempty the tank,the slurry is blown out under pressure.
This system is the most conventional.

Which pump capacity?The capacity of the pump is used to create the vacuum before starting to fill the tank or to set the tank under pressure during the spreading phase. Then, the pump "merely" has to keep this vacuum or this pressure.Choosinga toobigpumpmostoftenmeanswasting tractionpower and risking to wear the pump prematurely. Vacuum pumps WiTHouT lubricationThe Jurop DL pumps are vacuum models with very high capacity (from 14.000 to20.000lair/min).
The DL pump works with "volu-metric" lobes instead of vanes. The rotation of the lobes then creates a depression inside the tank, and makes it possible to suck slurry.
As there is no contact between the moving parts, the pump can work without being lubri-cated.
The pump is simply cooled by air injection. Inlet/outlet col-lectors are part of the pump housing.
The advantage of this type of pump is the high capacity and the limited dimensions. Moreover, the Jurop DL pump is not subject to wear or pollu-tant emissions.
This pump is standard fitted with silencers on the filling and exhaust pipe.
There are currently two models available in the JOSKIN price list: JuropDL140 (14,000 l air/min)andJuropDL200(20,000lair/min).
Two important options for the DL pump: the filters and the tem-peraturealarm.Theadvantageof thefilters (placedbetweenthe pump and integrated at the front of the tank) is that they suck a lot of purified air.

Thepumpisprotectedagainstthewell-known"slurry-hammer"(slurryflowingintothepump)thankstoananti-spillvalvecombi-ned to a self-cleaning syphon. The compression circuit also includes two safety valves: one on the pump, one on the tank. Why? Because the pump is the heart of your spreader and is worth this attention.
ECoPuMPA vacuum pump naturally loses oil with the expelled air. In order to col-lect this oil and to reduce the noise level of the pump, JOSKIN createdanECOPUMP.Principle:withtheECOPUMP,themachinehas a high situated air intake to avoid the entry of dust raised by thetractor wheels, and the filtering grid makes it possible to reduce thenoise level of the pump.
Ball security (anti-spill valve)Based on a float system, the ball security prevents slurry from flowing in the same pipe as the air. Once the tank is full, the ball comes and blocks the pipe.
Self-cleaning syphonThesyphon(capacityof30or60laccordingtothepumpcapacity)is an extra safety between the tank and the pump. The inside pipe is designed in such a way that the syphon empties automatically when the air is expelled.
Tank pressure relief valveAll JOSKIN tankers with vacuum pump are equipped with a tankoverpressuresecurity(accordingtothenormsinforce).

The volumetric spiral pumps allow the flow of liquids with a high viscosity. The JOSKINvehicles(Modulo2,Komfort2 and Cobra)withaspiralpumphaveintheirstandardequipmentaboxwithstonetrapwithoutletsontheleftandontherighttobefittedwithasuctionvalveandacentralholetofixtheJUMBOarm(left/right).Moreover,thisboxhasadrainingcapwithquickopeningin order to remove quickly any foreign body caught in the stone trap. The box is also a slurry stock for the priming of the pump inorder to prevent the pump from running dry, which could damage the pump housing.The spiral pump can be mounted on tankers the drawbar of which is either fixed or equipped with silent-blocks or with a hydro-pneumatic suspension.
