NO CHILD LEFT BEHINDNO CHILD LEFT BEHIND IS A FEDERAL LAW THAT MANDATES A NUMBER OF PROGRAMS AIMED AT IMPROVING U.S. EDUCATION (ED.gov, 2012).

NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND

PRO CON

Stronger accountability for results.

Expanded flexibility and local control.

Expanded options for parents. Emphasis on teaching

methods that have been proven to work. (White, 2011)

Government says you will but still leaves it to the states to make it fit.

Does not give options to ensure the right fit for the child.

Standardize testing flawed. Reading and Math Scores at

the upper levels still dropping. (White, 2011)

NO CHILD LEFT BEHINDPRO Stronger accountability for results. By applying mandates and accountability to educational standards will improve test scores.

For parents NCLB initiatives will further democratize U.S. education by setting standards and providing resources to schools regardless of wealth, ethnicity, disabilities.

NO CHILD LEFT BEHINDCON Standardize testing flawed.

Reading and Math Scores at the upper levels still dropping. Major opposition to NCLB is from teachers’ unions, that stress that the standardized testing is flawed as a result in lower scores in the high schools.

Parents wanting the best for their children and sometimes go into IEP’s with blinders on thinking they have the answer when it comes to where their child should be.

NO CHILD LEFT BEHINDCONCLUSION

THE LAW IS OVER 670 PAGES IN LENGTH AND WRITTEN IN A SHADE OF GRAY. PARENTS AS WELL AS TEACHER SHOULD BE FIMILIAR WITH IT. EVERYTHING HAS PROS AND CONS, IT IS ALL IN HOW YOU MAKE IT WORK FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL.
