SOIL TYPESKERB FLO can be used on all soil types with the following exceptions:1. Do not use on soils containing more than 10% organic matter.2. Do not use on strawberries or winter field beans grown in certain soil types. See Crop Recommendation tables.

SOIL AND WEATHER CONDITIONSKERB FLO requires moisture for root uptake. Best residual action is obtained in moist soils of fine tilth.

KERB FLO can be applied under frosty conditions but should not be used where run-off from the soil surface is likely.

Best results are achieved when growth of weeds (especially black-grass and volunteer cereals) is slow, but transpiration continues. In mild autumns/winters, emerged weeds may take longer to be controlled, the residual activity of KERB FLO will be shortened and overall control may be reduced.

The efficiency of KERB FLO may be reduced in organic soils and in the presence of excessive surface organic debris, burnt straw, ash, or ploughed-up turf.

In winter field beans ensure a firm seedbed before spraying.

RESISTANCE

Strains of some annual grasses (e.g. black-grass, wild oats, Italian ryegrass) have developed resistance to herbicides which may lead to poor control. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. Guidelines have been produced and are available from your local Teagasc/independent advisor.

CROP INFORMATIONNote: Specific application information for each crop is contained in the Crop Recommendation Tables that follow. In the recommendation tables which follow:S = Susceptible MS = Moderately susceptible MR = Moderately resistant R = Resistant

WINTER OILSEED RAPEKERB FLO can be applied after the use of a specific graminicide applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

FORESTRY, FOREST NURSERY, OUTDOOR WOODY ORNAMENTALSKERB FLO is recommended for use on the following species: Alder, Beech, Southern Beech, Birch, Douglas Fir, Grand Fir, Noble Fir, Horse Chestnut, Larch, Lawson Cypress, Oak, Bishop Pine, Corsican Pine, Lodgepole Pine, Monterey Pine, Scots Pine, Poplar, Norway Spruce, Sycamore, Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock, Wild Cherry.

KERB FLO is recommended for use on the following species which have been planted out not later than the previous spring: Berberis darwinii, Buddleia davidii, Chamaecyparis spp (False Cypress), Cotoneaster spp, Crataegus spp (Hawthorns), Fagus sylvatica (Beech), Forsythia x intermedia, Ilex aquifolium (Holly), Larix decidua (Larch), Philadelphus spp (Mock Orange), Picea spp (Spruces), Pinus spp (Pines), Prunus gladulosa, Quercus spp (Oak), Rosa spp (Roses including Rose rootstocks), Spiraea x bumalda `Froebelii’, Syringa vulgaris (Lilac), Taxus baccata (Yew), Thuja orientalis `Rosedalis’.

MISCELLANEOUS, INCLUDING LETTUCESee Crop Recommendation Tables.

PROCESSED CROPSNo taints have been detected in tests with treated field crops. Consult your processor before use.

WATER VOLUMESWinter oil seed rape, winter field beans, lucerne: Apply KERB FLO in 200 to 1000 litres of water per hectare.

Pome fruit, top and cane fruit [apple, blackcurrant, redcurrant, gooseberry, raspberry, loganberry, blackberry, pear, plum], forestry, forest nursery, outdoor woody ornamentals, Christmas trees, lettuce (outdoor), rhubarb (outdoor), strawberry (outdoor): Apply KERB FLO in 400 to 1000 litres of water per hectare.

Ensure good ground cover.

APPLICATION EQUIPMENTDo not apply through broadcast air-assisted sprayers.

All crops: Application may be made through a ground crop sprayer.

Forestry, forest nursery, outdoor woody ornamental, Christmas trees :KERB FLO may also be applied with a knapsack sprayer or the Micron Herbi CDA sprayer.

Knapsack applications: Add half the required amount of water to the knapsack. Shake the KERB FLO container vigorously and add the required amount to the knapsack, agitate the knapsack until the KERB FLO is fully dispersed. Top up the knapsack with the rest of the water and spray immediately, do not allow the mixture to stand.

Micro Herbi Application: Fit the Micron Herbi with the orange nozzle and the 0.19 inch OD breather tube. Any other size could result in uneven application. Add 375 ml KERB FLO to 625 ml of water in the spray bottle. Shake thoroughly to ensure all the product is in suspension. Then add 5 ml of an approved wetting agent and shake gently to ensure an even mixture. The Herbi applies a 1.2 metre band. To apply the recommended rate of KERB FLO, the operator should cover 10 metres in approximately 13 seconds with sprayer held at approximately 45° to the horizontal. Under very cold conditions (near 0°C) flow is improved by holding the sprayer head at 50° to the horizontal.

Where crosswinds occur allow for drift by moving the Herbi head to the windward side of the tree row.

3 litres of KERB FLO is sufficient to make 8 litres of suspension, which will treat 6,660 metres of tree line.

NOTES FOR CROP RECOMMENTATION TABLESa) Chickweed control may be reduced where it is well established (over 10 cm in diameter)b) CONTROL OF BLACKGRASS IN WINTER OILSEED RAPE: Established (well tillered) black grass is moderately susceptible: Where populations of black grass and/or

volunteer cereals exceed 50/m2 KERB FLO should be applied in a tank mix with an approved graminicide in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, or following an effective approved graminicide to ensure optimum weed control.

Deeper germinating black grass within the soil profile could reduce product efficacy. Where partial resistance (R or RR) to the partner graminicide is known to exist the dose of KERB FLO may be

increased to 2.1 litres/ha. This may also be done if applications are made early in the season, under warm conditions and an increase in the duration of residual control is required (see Soil and Weather Conditions above).

Where high levels of resistance (RRR) to the partner graminicide occurs there is no advantage of adding this graminicide to KERB FLO for black grass control, and KERB FLO even at 2.1 litres/ha will not give acceptable levels of established black grass control in these circumstances.

R = 1* RR = 2*/3* RRR = 4*/5*

c) For heavy infestation of common couch a repeat application may be required the following winter. Avoid deep burying of rhizomes when preparing land prior to KERB FLO treatment.
