Medical Check Up for Exposure to Diesel Exhaust What is Diesel Exhaust? The diesel engines in automobiles, electricity generator, etc. produce exhaust from the

combustion of diesel fuel. Diesel exhaust is made up of harmful chemicals including verysmall toxic particles and hazardous gases. Some of the hazardous gases in diesel exhaust (e.g.nitrogen oxides, benzene, sulfur dioxide and formaldehyde) have been found to possiblycause cancer.

Health Hazards of Diesel Exhaust Breathing diesel exhaust is the most common method of exposure. As we breathe, the fine

particles and toxic gases in diesel exhaust can enter into the lungs. Being exposed to dieselexhaust for short periods of time may cause headaches, nausea, chest tightness, wheezing,cough and irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat.

Exposure to diesel exhaust over long periods of time (usually years) may increase the chancesof getting cancer. Those workers who already have respiratory illnesses, such as bronchitis,emphysema and/or asthma, may be adversely affected if they are exposed to long-term, or chronic exposure to diesel exhaust. Eventhough it will impact all of the body system(respiratory, cardiac, liver, kydney).

Who is at Risk? Workers most likely to be exposed to diesel exhaust include , automobiles and bus driver ,truck and forklift drivers, and material handling machine operators, also with The AggrekoWorkers who had daily activity in the site that use diesel machine as electricitygenerator.

What is the benefit of Medical Check Up

1. Early detection & screening By doing medical check up we can find out early, whether the Aggreko workers has get

impact from diesel exhaust exposure or not. Than we can do medical screening whichnegative effect has impact The Aggreko Workers from diesel exhaust exposure.

2. Avoid from serious health condition

As mentioned above, the exposure can make serious condition for the workers healthy(lungs cancer, breathing disorders, and cardiac disorders), by using medical check up we can

avoid that.
