Multimodal project Proposal: Evolution
Evolution has been and still is a scientific subject of great controversy. It has caused
people in history to be prosecuted for believing it, and a teacher was even sent to jail for teaching
such “forbidden knowledge.” We believe the main reason why evolution is so controversial is
because of how it directly conflicts with religious beliefs, and denies that humans have been put
on earth for a higher reason. We believe because of this, people have formed misconceptions
about evolution that are false. By conducting extensive research in the topic, we believe this
project will allow us to clear up misconceptions that some of our classmates may have about
evolution.
As far as the multimodal approach of the project goes, the visual, gestural, and linguistic
modes will be prevalent throughout the presentation. If we can fit a form of the aural mode in the
project then we shall, but we are not exactly sure how we could. The visual aspect of the project
will obviously be the power point we use. We also plan to include picture that will aid in
understanding concepts were addressing. The linguistic Approach will be our interaction with the
class. Speaking to them and expanding on the information on the power point presentation will
help to deliver the information. We also plan to answer any questions that our classmates may
have to our best abilities. The question and answer method will hopefully give them feedback on
anything they may be confused about; as for the gestural mode, we have a few examples that we

can use that will also use to clarify on any confusions classmates may have. We are still not
exactly sure about how to incorporate and aural mode of presenting the information, so we may
not include it. We will continue brainstorm about what we could use for this mode, but for now it
does not seem like it will be included in our project.
We think that evolution is something that the people should care about because it is not
just about men turning to monkeys like most people believe it to be. There is also more to it and
we think that the subject of evolution deserves to be properly known just as valuable information
in the world should. Our goal is not to convert people into believing that evolution is how
everything came to be; we just want to clear up misconceptions that people may have had about
evolution so they can understand why it is accepted as a fact in the scientific community.
The division fo the work for the project is rather simple. We both plan to do some
research, report back to each other to discuss what we find, and compile our research into a
power point presentation. We will both be responsible for finding credible, informative sources,
and we both will be responsible for creating the power point together. We also will divide
presenting the information the same way.
We are not exactly sure about an exact timeline for the project, but we plan on starting
work as soon as possible. Our schedules are very different and conflict often, so we are still in
the process of arranging times to work on the project together. We will start researching the day
this proposal is turned in. that way we will have an early start on that portion. I can say that we
will finish the presentation early. That is what we have planned so far.
