1. Taking a Bath

• Is a process of taking away dirt from the

body using water and soap

2. Caring for the Haira) Washing the hair

3 different types of hair

• Oily Hair – this type of hair needs

shampoo everyday and conditioner only

once a week

• Dry Hair – needs to be shampooed

and conditioned every two (2) days

• Normal Hair –washing can be done

every 2 days but conditioner should

be once a week.

b.) Drying the Hair

• Towel Drying – the best way to dry the

hair

• Hair Dryer – not advised in drying the

hair through this method may destroy the

hair strands

c.) Combing the Hair

The use of natural fiber or hair

brush may lessen hair damage.

*comb the hair not more than

5x a day.

3. Care of the Teeth and Gums5 ways of Caring for the Teeth and Gums

a) Tooth Brushing

- do this twice or three times a day.

- use a tooth brush with soft bristles.

- follow the correct way of tooth brushing.

- brush also the tongue from the back to front

part three times.

- brush the teeth within 2 to 3 minutes.

- gargle after tooth brushing.

-change toothbrush every 3 to 4

months.

b) Using Dental Floss

Dental Floss – is a nylon filament or a plastic

ribbon that removes food or plaque in

between the teeth that tooth brushing

cannot reach.

c) Eating the Right Kinds of Food

d) Consulting the dentist

- Have a check up every 6 months to

prevent tooth and gum decay

e) Gargling – helps prevent bacteria from

destroying the teeth and gums.

• trimming the finger and toenails twice or thrice a

month is advised

STEPS IN TRIMMING THE NAILS

a. There are two kinds of clippers :

-one for the nails

-one for the toes

b. Use the nail file to round and smooth uneven,

split, or sharp edges.

c. Use a nail brush, cotton swab or folded toilet

tissue square to remove shavings from around

and underneath the nail

* Applying nail polish is not good for children

- a child must have at least 8 hours of

sleep everyday and should rest after a

tiring activity.
