How do they work?

Without pronouns, sentences would just not sound right.

Example: Luke went to Luke’s house and Luke turned off

Luke’s TV after Luke watched Luke’s TV.

Pronouns make this better:

Luke went to his house and he turned off his TV after he watched it.
