Young at Heart allows seniors to participate in a program that focuses on just that. Young at Heart gives seniors an opportunity to focus on their well being and guides them to reaching their optimal potential.

Promote healthy lifestyles through exercise training to increase strength, enhance cardio-vascular wellness, and develop flexibility for the senior citizens in our communityProvide a safe environment for senior citizens to participate in group exercise programs that will enhance their health and emotional wellbeingEnsure that both employees and volunteers are skilled and up to date in senior exercise information and programsMaintain clients safety through the training and certification of employees and volunteers in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support training techniques Ensure the presence of friendly, educated, and helpful employees and volunteers whose primary goal is to improve the health and wellness of the senior population

Descriptions of JobsChief Executive Officer (CEO)This individual has final authority over budget and administrative decisions, working closely with other leaders in the organization to balance objectives and meet internal and external goals.Responsibilities:Direct the company as a whole Having a vision for the companys future and direct the company toward that vision successfully Balance objectives internally and externally Attend public events, meetings and conferences Work closely with the CFO to balance the budget Stay abreast of changes in regulation and industry trends Form partnerships and develop relationships with community businesses and leaders Ultimately take responsibility for the actions and success or failure of the organization

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)This individual manages the flow of the programs financial resources by directing funds going out and analyzing/distributing funds coming in.Responsibilities:Maintains compliance with state and federal regulations and ensures taxes and payroll are current, following all regulatory guidelinesGives the final approval on all reporting documents, annual statements and analytical reportsSecures necessary insurance policies and business permits Answers media questions about financial issues Oversees Fund Developer who deals with company assets and liabilitiesDevelops funding plan to ensure maintenance and growth of the program

Fund DevelopmentThis individual plays a key role in the success and future viability of Young at Heart. This role includes the procurement of funds, the allocation of funds, and the future planning for acquisition of funding for Young at Heart.Responsibilities:Work with the executive director to help create a short and long term funding plan for the organization Create and maintain lists of current and prospective individuals and corporations who may be willing to support Young at Heart financially Actively solicit donations from potential contributors Correctly prepare and submit grant requests to appropriate agencies that may consider providing grant funding for Young at Heart Represent Young at Heart at fundraising and community events to help raise awareness of our organization Develop promotional information and brochures to be passed out in the community Prepare quarterly and annual reports and work closely with the Finance Director to ensure proper allocation, distribution, and recording of funds raised

Public Relations CoordinatorThe Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for connecting with the community and spreading the word about the Young at Heart program.Responsibilities:Communicate program benefits to local area via flyers, local television and radio interviews, and acting as spokesperson at organized events. Plan and attend meetings with local broadcasters, journalists, event coordinators, and senior living centers. Develop a positive rapport with the community by demonstrating a positive, healthy outlook. Answer phone calls and emails regarding community questions about the program. Assist other local organizations in recognizing the program and informing them on how their organization can get involved through donation or volunteering.

Description of JobsNurse Coordinator The purpose of the nurse coordinator is to effectively manage all registered nurses and licensed practical nurses employed by Young at Heart.Responsibilities:Ensure nurses are up to date on continuing education credits, necessary specialty training, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and basic life support certificationsSupervise any discrepancies that arise between employeesEncourage collaboration between varying specialties to increase job satisfaction Oversee the ordering of supplies necessary to sustain the job of registered nurses (glucometer material, thermometer, blood pressure cuff, bandages, Asprin, Tylenol, antiseptic fluid, backboard, wheelchair, etc.) Involve nursing staff in the initiation of new ways in which to creatively and safely care for patients

Registered and Licensed Practical NursesThe purpose of the registered nurse (RN) and licensed practical nurse (LPN) is to provide any necessary assessment, treatment, and evaluation for clientele during workout sessions and time spent at the facility. Another aim is to evaluate clients for their ability to perform certain workouts.Responsibilities:Measures vital signs pre and post workout as necessaryTests blood glucose as necessaryProvides suggestions in conjunction with fitness instructor as to which exercise classes are appropriate for clientProvides any nursing or emergency medical treatment (within confines of a nurses job) to clientsPromotes the health and well-being of the client

Fitness Coordinator The purpose of the fitness coordinator is to efficiently supervise all exercise physiologists employed by Young at Heart.Responsibilities: Ensure exercise physiologists are up to date on education, specialty training, and basic life support measuresOversee and handle disagreements that arise between employeesEncourage a sense of cooperation between disciplinesOversee the ordering of supplies necessary to sustain the job of the exercise physiologist (exercise machines and material, scales, etc)Assist exercise physiologist in creating safe yet new methods for stretching, strengthening, and exercising appropriate for seniors

Exercise Physiologist The purpose of the exercise physiologist is to help seniors develop individualized exercise programs that meet the specific needs of the population they serve. Responsibilities:Evaluate a persons overall health, with special attention to cardiovascular function and metabolism Develop individualized exercise programs to increase physical fitness, strength, endurance, and flexibility Design customized exercise programs to meet health care needs and athletic performance goals Educate seniors regarding proper exercise techniques Replenishment of fluids during exercise Performs body composition/BMI/anthropometric and other assessments

Description of JobsVolunteer CoordinatorThe purpose of the Volunteer Coordinator is to ensure the presence a committed volunteer work force to help provide necessary assistance in the day to day operation of Young at Heart.Responsibilities: Committed to serving the older adult population in an health orientated facility Development of job descriptions for the volunteers Development of programs to enlist volunteers from the community Selection of volunteers through interviews and follow-up on any needed background checks prior to their start date Placement of volunteers in the specific role that best suits their interests and abilities Training of volunteers or placement of volunteers with appropriate mentors Orientation of volunteers prior to their start date Scheduling of volunteers and management of the volunteer schedule Recognition program for the volunteer staff

Volunteer rolesResponsibilities:The purpose of volunteers is to provide assistance to the certified members of the team.Responsibilities:Greets and interacts with clients to promote a friendly atmosphereProvides refreshments for clients post workout as neededAids fitness instructor during workout sessions as directedProvides assistance to RNs or LPNs during medical events as directed

Young at Heart

Young at HeartHours of service Young at Heart will work in conjunction with the school facility it is operating out of to establish hours that are convenient for seniors, yet do not interfere with student class periods who utilize the gym facilities. This will include services during the week Monday through Friday during school hours, along with evenings. Saturday services will be held from 7am-2pm. There will be no services held on Sundays or holidays.

Young at HeartFee for service Seniors will pay a monthly fee of $16.66 per month. A minimum of 50 participants per month would contribute $833 to the budget monthly.

Young at HeartApplications for grants Grant applications will be sought out and completed by the Fund Developer. Types of grants and the amount of money from each grant will determine the number of grants applied for.
