Transcript of Projects of Project Matthew
FDC Project Matthew
Foundation
“ For I was hungry and you gave Me food;
I was thirsty and you gave Me drink;
I was a stranger and you took Me in;
I was naked and you clothed Me;
I was sick and you visited Me;
I was in prison and you came to Me.”
- Matthew 25:35-36
The foregoing Biblical passage inspired Runy Sarda to ask his wife, Linda
Salvosa-Sarda, to start an endeavor for indigent children in the summer of 1998.
The feeding activity began with 60 undernourished children in Mandaluyong
City. In six months, children from Pasig and street families from nearby areas were
included. And the once-a-week activity increased to five days a week. In its third year,
Project Matthew reached out to public schools in Mandaluyong and Quezon City. Hot
lunches were now delivered and served to 1000 beneficiaries. In 2008, Project Matthew
concentrated its efforts in the dump sites of Payatas and Montalban.
At the close of September 2012, Project Matthew was servicing 19 sites spread
out in Payatas, Montalban and other poor barangays in Quezon City – the children
numbering 1500.
A scholarship program evolved within Project Matthew’s second year. The 10
students gradually increased to 100. One high school graduate made it to the University of
the Phils. and obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering.
Other Project Matthew activities included regular distribution of donated clothes
and toys, visits to some hospitals and the Mandaluyong City jail.
Project Matthew’s kitchen temporarily closed October 2012 due to financial
difficulties but reopened February 2013. Lunch is now being prepared on Saturdays for
600 children living in 9 barangays.
“Then the King will reply, „I
tell you the truth, whatever you
did for one of the least of these
brothers of mine, you did for
me.‟”
