Activity Commentary

11/19/114 hours

I met with my project facilitator, John Mercure, and we discussed the layout and procedures for my project. We also decided on all of the electronics needed for my project and proceeded to purchase them.

I got to know my project facilitator very well in this step and I got to get a really good understanding on how my project was going to go. It also gave me a better feeling about my project because I knew then the specifications of it.

01/21/129 hours

Me and my facilitator started working on the smaller box that encloses the speakers.We got the entire box cut out and put together and sealed tight.

I learned how to use an assortment of power tools and other tools necessary for building this part of my project. I also acquired the knowledge of how to correctly seal a small area to be airtight.

3/10/1210 hours

Me and my facilitator made the final little adjustments on the speaker box and finished it. After that we spent the rest of the day working on the acrylic box.

I learned in this step how to figure out what materials would have the best sound qualities when formed into different enclosures. And I also learned the correct steps to take in order to cut and drill into high end acrylic.

3/31/128 hours

Me and my facilitator finished all of the smaller adjustments to the box and put the speakers in the smaller box. We also wired everything and put the speaker box into the enclosed box. We also proceeded to test the entire set up.

I learned in this step how to wire a power source to an amp. I also learned how to wire the speakers to the amp. Along with all of that I also learned how to correctly test a room for sound.
