Creative Media and Game Technologies (CMGT)(Formerly Art & Technology, Game Design & Production and Game Engineering)
saxion.edu
CMGT’s set-up is broad. We focus on the three roles that you will encounter throughout the professional field: • Artist (the talented creator who is responsible
for the visual respresentation withnin interactive media)
• Designer (the creative- and technical architect who develops the user experience)
• Engineer (the structured realist who is responsible for the technical realisation)
CMGT is a team-based degree programme. You will frequently collaborate on projects with fellow students from all three different roles. These projects are often practice-based. The assignments are founded on interactive solutions that are gamified for a specific client or target group.
Create your own individual mix of subjectsIn the CMGT exchange programme, you can either choose subjects from the first and second years or subjects from the specialisation phase. Your choice will depend on the requirements that have been set by your home university or your level of your education. Below are some examples of subjects, listed by job title. Together with we can create a personal plan that suits your needs. The most up-to-date list of subjects can be found on saxion.edu.

Pushing the boundaries of reality A virtual
reality game, an interactive video on YouTube, visual effects in movies, applications with
augmented reality features: these have more in common than you might think. Firstly,
they all push the boundaries of reality. Secondly, these products have all been created
by multidisciplinary teams that combine creativity, technology and user experiences and
who subsequently continue to expand the possibilities of technology and interaction.

Deadlines for enrolmentThe deadline for enrolment is either May 15 or November 15. If housing is required, the deadline is either May 1 or November 1. This will involve an entrance assessment: You need to submit a digital portfolio (website, weblog, Photo album or something similar) to prove your previously acquired technical skills and the ability to design. By means of an interview (via Skype) it will be established if your communicative skills are sufficient for admission to the course. If possible, you can do the interview at Saxion.
