ITS CAD/AVL Project – Efficiencies
• Improved Operator Satisfaction
– Operators no longer have to manually set Route/Block displays.
– Operators no longer have to manually log on to farebox.
– Data messaging extremely helpful to quickly notify dispatchers.
• Improved Dispatcher Satisfaction
– Seeing location of buses.
– Reduced radio traffic using data messaging.
– Data messaging helpful to quickly notify individual operators and groups.
– Priority messaging of voice calls from operators.
– Run Dispatch can send extra work messages and get acknowledgement from operators without going through Radio Dispatch.
– Dispatchers have real-time access to actual Pull-Out times of individual Blocks.
– Detour information is readily accessible by operators using the detour function.
– Detour information may be disseminated by route or geographical using the detour function.
– Detour information may be stored for known events and reused.

ITS CAD/AVL Project – Efficiencies
• Improved Field Supervisor Satisfaction
– Seeing location of buses.
– Using playback to correct training issues or respond to customer concerns.
• Improved Customer Service
– CS agents have access to vehicle location and can assist customers when they are checking on the status of a route.
– CS agents have been able to address customer claims of early departure using the route play back feature.
– CS has less dependency and need to communicate with Dispatch.
• Improved Integration
– Incident Forms automatically generate work orders in Spear.
– Incidents Forms automatically generate notifications of system-wide incidents and possible schedule data errors which can be researched to improve timepoints.
– Supervisor and Security vehicles are now visible on the AVL map.
– RSA timepoint data may now be mined for pinpoint accuracy by Planning to refine and improve our existing schedules and routes.
