1.) HYGEIA: - word is derived from Greek Mythology which means “THE GODDESS OF HEALTH”.

2.) A private limited company registered under companies act. 1956 established in the year 1996.

3.) Registered under Food Product Order of India vide FPO No: 10743/1.

4.) Registered under Factories Act. And with Dept. Of Industries of India vide PMT No: 020504201.

5.) Got an ISO 9001:2000 certification in April 2005 by Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

6.) Started commercial production for the Pickles & Juice Drinks,Jams, Ketchup, & Squashes,Cider/Apple Wine in addition to Canned Pulps, Ready to serve food and Packaged Drinking Water in the year 2000, 2003, 2005, and 2009 respectively has continued its growth in turnover with app. 100% increase in sales during last three years.

7.) It is presently with total 35 nonalcoholic products and 2 alcoholic products in the portfolio.

1.) MR. VIJAY KUMAR BASANDRAI ASCHAIRMAN OF THE COMPANY: -Gold medalist from FRI and with an experience of 30 years of officer cadre in Government of Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Kumar (65years) oversees the entire business of the company.It is with his vision that Hygeia which started with Pickles only presently has products Fruit Jams, Fruit Juice Drinks, Fruit Drink Concentrates, Cider Vinegar, and Apple Wine in its product portfolio.

2.) MR. VIVEK BASANDRAI ASMG. DIRECTOR OF THE COMPANY: He has done Business Management, primarily supervises the Finance and Marketing Division of the company . It is with his efforts that a company which started with a production capacity to process just 3 Tons per month has a present set up to process over 12 Tons per shift. It is under his leader ship that the brand portfolio of the company is increased from just Two brands to Forty Five  catering various segments of Domestic Market and Exports.To recognize his contribution the National Integration & Economic Council had honoured him with RAJIV GANDHI SHIROMANI AWARD-2009 on 19th August 2009 andMinistry of Micro, Small &Medium EnterprisesGovt. Of INDIA awarded him  NATIONAL AWARD 2009 on 31st  August 2010.

3.) MR. CHAMAN PRAKASH SHARMA ASCHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER DOMESTIC BUSINESS: Bachelor in Commerce, he is like Stalwart of the company and associated with the company since 2002. He looks after all the affairs starting from Sourcing till the Sales of the Goods to the Domestic Market. He is full time involved in the day to day affairs of the company keeping coordination between the various departments of the company and keeps close eye on the obligations of the company pertaining to various Government Departments governing Food Processing Sector.

a.) Being a labor intensive manufacturing industry, it suffers from supply of SKILLED LABORS.

3.) ECONOMIC FACTORS:-

a.) Raw Material:- Hygeia gets its Raw Material direct from crop growers.

b.) Power:- Hygeia has not faced any problem of power failure since its commencement.

c.) Nearness To Market:- As Hygeia is in Proximity To NH(National Highway),it does not have to travel far for markets.

d.) Capacity Utilisation:- Businesses felt most comfortable between 80 to 90% capacity utilisation.

PROBLEM FACED: -

1.) With the change in the seasons, as well as in Temperatures Raw material gets humid or dry.

2.) They have to bring raw material

themselves from crop growers with whom they are in contract with.

3.) Continuous Hike in Raw Material prices.

a.) HYGEIA has prospered in using recent machinery and equipment.

b.) Modern technologies like Double Seam

Canning Equipment is used for properly packing the processed food.

Machinery did not perform up to its optimum capacity as promised, and hence resulted in raising costs.

a.) PACKAGING:- Fruit Drinks and pickles are especially packed in PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate)

Presently we have 24 flavours of these under the brand name of PICK and JOLLY MAKER

RECOMMENDATIONS TO SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES

1. STORAGE PROBLEM :-When raw materials are to be stored in warehouses.Due to lack in storage houses,much of the raw material gets spoiled.

2. RAW MATERIAL AVAILABILLITY:-As raw material has to be brought themselves by SSIs. Its availability at the time required,leads to under utilisation of capacity.

3. MARKETING PROBLEMS:- Competition from other small scale industries gives rise to a problem for existing SSIs Business. 4. FINANACIAL PROBLEMS:- Repayment of Loans from SSIs on the tenure fixed with finanacial institutions.

5. MANPOWER PROBLEMS:- Absenteeism of skilled labors,Double wages demands of workers

6. UNDER UTILISATION OF CAPACITY:- When SSEs with skilled labor,strong infrastructure and healthy machinery uses 70-80% of its capacity,it generates problem of under utilsation.

REASONS: LABOUR UNEMPLOYMENT:-

a.) Due to industrial and infrastructural development in Migrants Home Town makes the workers leave the present working place.

b.) Double wages :- Workers getting wages higher than offered in their recent wages.

SOLUTIONS:-1.) AUTOMATION:- these

industries should convert themselves from LABOUR INTENSIVE enterprise to AUTOMATION.

2.) REWARDS:- must be provided to them.

3.) EXPERIENCED LABOR:- Labors with some handful skills must be called.

4.) WAREHOUSING STORES:- Warehouses must be available for storage and preservation of raw materials.

5.) OPTIMUM UTILSATION OF RESOURCES AND CAPACITY:-Resoures must be preserved and used optimisely to their maximum limits
