PROJECT PROPOSAL DEBATE EXHIBITION HOSTED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW CASTLE I. University of New-Castle Law School sponsored debate As part of the visit of the Dean of University of New Castle Law School, a debate exhibition match between the varsity members of the La Salle Debate Society and the DLSU Law Moot and Debate Society shall be organized by the DLSU College of Law, under the sponsorship of the University of New Castle. II. Executive Summary The University of New Castle Law School debate match will be an integral component of the visit of Professor Sandeep Gopalan on May 6, 2015. Top debaters from the DLSU College of Law and the Primus Batch of the same shall meet each other and debate on the topic: This House Believes That China’s Nine-dash Line Has No Basis in International Law” The same shall be judged by a DLSU law alumnus, a DLSU Law professor, and to be chair by Professor Gopalan. The debate will be contested in the Asian Parliamentary format, with three members per team. The winning team shall receive 15 thousand pesos while the losing team will receive a consolation price of 5 thousand pesos. The best debater will receive 5 thousand Pesos. III. Objectives A. I. University of New-Castle Law School sponsored debate As part of the visit of the Dean of University of New Castle Law School, a debate

II. Executive Summary The University of New Castle Law School debate match will be an integral component of

III. Objectives

A. General To significantly contribute to the law discourse in the university.

B. Specific

1) To ADVANCE a culture of discussion insofar as the law is concerned.

2) To DEVELOP the capabilities and talents of the youth and unleash their potential; 3) To PROMOTE the value of critical thinking and awareness to the future leaders of our country;

4) To CONTRIBUTE to the intellectual growth of the World’s young generations;

5) To MARKET the University of New Castle as a possible location for the study of law amongst Lasallian students.

At least 200 members of the audience are expected to watch the said debate match. We would also specifically invite the newly passed lawyers who might be interested to take their Masters in Law.

V. Organizations Involved :

Affairs, will be the main proponent and organizer of the debate proper. It will be in charge of spearheading all the necessary preparations for the said event in direct coordination with the DLSU-COL Law and Moot Debate Society

VIII. Contingencies

A) Weather Should there be a need to cancel the event due to weather problems, the activity will be

rescheduled to the following week, subject to availability of venue.

B) Finances The expenditures for the debate prizes and refreshments shall be sponsored by the

University of New Castle, while the expenditures for the venue will be taken care of by the College.
