Project Proposal I. Project to be innovated To present an innovation in the varied applications of polymers, ‘bouncing ball’ as an alternative vibration-damping, shock-absorbent housing to electronic devices is presented in this project. Bouncing balls which were originally made of natural rubber, though now are widely made of plastics and other polymers or even treated leather, pose its major applications in the manufacture of toys. However, with its potential for shock absorption, the proponents of this project would like to extend its application to technology. The objective was to soften the polymers, disorganize the hard phase, and broaden the soft segment glass transition temperature while still allowing a rather broad use temperature range.

I. Project to be innovated

To present an innovation in the varied applications of polymers, ‘bouncing ball’ as an

alternative vibration-damping, shock-absorbent housing to electronic devices is presented in this

project. Bouncing balls which were originally made of natural rubber, though now are widely made

of plastics and other polymers or even treated leather, pose its major applications in the

manufacture of toys. However, with its potential for shock absorption, the proponents of this

project would like to extend its application to technology. The objective was to soften the polymers,

disorganize the hard phase, and broaden the soft segment glass transition temperature while still

allowing a rather broad use temperature range.
