Residential Space
Basically meaning of the residence is the place where we are living .the house is
one’s refuge and shelter, it is a space where a person relaxes after a day’s hard
work and wants to be charged, fresh, confident for the next day. All this can be
achieved if he has the house designed as per his needs that is a space that
nurtures a human being into a more efficient person this is what is interior
design or design of spaces “where a man does not adjust the house but the
house adjust with the person” very correctly said by a very well known designer
of the world Le Corbusier (the person behind designing the city of Chandigarh),
machine for living. The designers worked on the principal of anthropometrics
(human dimensions) and ergonomics (study of human dimensions to create any
design).
In planning process we have a free factors that are kept in mind, such as aspect,
prospect and grouping and space planning, served (Living Room) and servant
area (Kitchen), watcher and loner etc. in residential designing a living room is a
place which is called a watcher it is based on a human nature that people like to
watch or be close to certain incidence. A bedroom is called a “loner” because a
person needs to relax and it is a private space - Louis Kahn.
Bed Room
The Bedroom is the place where your day begins and ends.
Bedroom is the personal space in the entire house, where we love to relax,
sleep, listen to music, watch movies, talk endlessly on phone, try on clothes,
practically everything which can make our day. While making or remodeling the
house, we often think about adding a different touch to the bedroom.
So it is necessary to furnish the bedroom and add a spark to it, so as to make it
more attractive, visually pleasing and aesthetically pleasing.
To design a space, we first need to feel the space and to know the
functionality of the space. And we also follow these points-

Arranging Accessories-
It’s mainly based on the ergonomics and anthropometric and according
anthropometric and ergonomics we arrange the accessories.
Wall Accessories-
Pictures are the most popular form of wall decoration. They can and often do
establish the mood or theme of a room.
Simple pictures of a bowl of fruit or flower might be pretty enough, but there
are likely to be many other subjects that will show more imagination and
contribute more effectively to the decor of a room.
A classical decor is enhanced by scenes symbolic of ancient Greece and the
Roman Empire or scenes of the periods during which the classical styles
flourished in Europe and the United States.
For a modern room, abstracts or primitives or sophisticated scences by artist
past or present, are desirable. Reproductions of paintings by Dali , Picasso ,
Dufy, or Kandinsky might suit your taste , or you might like the sophistication
of the paintings .
Landscape and water scenes can be used in the living room , bedroom or
dining room.
A sea painting is in good taste in any room and it will give an outdoor feeling
and make a room seem larger than it is.
Family photographs and religious pictures belong to the bedroom.
A picture should help to carry out the colour scene of a room. Any strong
colour in a picture should be duplicated by an area of the colour somewhere
in the room.
Framing Pictures-
The subjective matter of the picture should be in harmony with the period
style and colour scheme in a room, and the frame should harmonise with the
room and picture.
Carved , gilded frames should be used only in elaborate feorgian or other
formal room , they should never be used in modern or country – style décor.
