About Us Project FORWARD is an education based project initiative started by AIESEC in theUniversity of Nottingham Malaysia Campus to guide the indigenous communities in ruralareas to a better future. In efforts to transform and improve the standard of living of theindigenous communities, we provide them with basic education, show them the worldoutside and create awareness about the importance of literacy.
Why We Do What We Do?
The main aim of Project FORWARD is tocreate literate youths among the indigenous(Orang Asli) communities in Malaysia focusingon the indigenous community in New DonglaiVillage (Kampung Baru Donglai). As literacyfacilitates the acquisition of basic skills andknowledge, this helps them to interact withboth other ethnic communities and also themodern world; in terms of social andeconomic interactions for them to sustainthemselves socially and economically. This is agood effort to shorten the gap betweenurban and indigenous communities.
Together We Do
Project FORWARD will be mainly conducting workshops in the New DonglaiVillage hall for children aged 5 to 12. Interns and volunteers of this project willbe provided with sufficient training. This is to create a beneficial situation forboth sides: increasing literacy among the indigenous community and creatingempowering youths of our generation.
