Cost?

• Trip Cost: $950 Program Fee (Includes all food, lodging on boat

• Flight Cost: About $700-900 depending on departure city

• Souvenirs: $100+• Food: Depends

Where did we go?

• Fly to Lima->Fly to Iquitos->Get on Boat->Travel South on the River and tributaries to Rural Amazonian Villages

What did we do?

• Morning (8am-1130am) clinics set up in schoolhouses, village centers, etc.

• Interviewed patients of all ages, conducted focused physical exams

• Prescribed medications under supervision of Peruvian Doctor and Nurse

• Played soccer/fished/swam/hung out in afternoons• Asked permission to village authorities night

before.

What we learned?

• Many have little to no access to any form of healthcare

• Patient trust must not be taken for granted• Humbling experience• Advanced our clinical experience through use

of minimal resources and alternate perspectives on medicine.

Cons

• Boat accomodations • Bugs (at night)• Unorganized at times (Crew took us to watch

Soccer games instead of travelling further down river)
