Porcelain is a work of art in itself So it is important to display the purity and aesthetic beautyMy focus was on how the Porcelain should be presented to allow the building to harmonize with it not play against the object

The lsquoGlass Housersquo by Philip Johnson inspired me in terms of display and preservation of objectsThe symbolic meaning of glass which isolates the object from external environment whilst still allowingobservation from outside

Looking at the lsquoFinal Tree Housersquo by Sou Fujimotothere is an interesting overlap of light and shadowsI considered what if one objects in the gaps and on cantileversnatural light coming in through the lsquogapsrsquo shining on objects

Porcelains are exhibited and gifted in a crafted wood box or a bar

The purity of porcelain comes from light and dark To expose the object onto natural lighting was a key idea Another inspirations came from the container itself and how the object is being displayed

Interpretation of patterns

Old traditional white porcelains donrsquot have line patternsThat is because technology to form controlled patterns did not exist at the time Our ancestors have developed the aesthetic shape and form of porcelains From professor Hwangrsquos interview he commented ldquoconnection and harmony between legacy of our ancestors the craftmanship and modernistic approach of industrialisation was represented by series of patternsrdquo

My interpretation of Le Corbusierrsquos quote is that function and object should be linked together The function allows people to appreciate fully the aesthetics and purity of porcelains In fact playing with light and shad-ows is a factor to consider Allowing timber bars to stick out from the wall it allows a functional display area and at the same time allows interesting overlap of light and shadows highlighting the objects displayed

lsquoApproach to the buildingrsquo possesses its philosophical meaning more than a simple physical action When people walk along the pathway they experience view and think The process is meaningful and somewhat symbolic Monumental architecture such as temples make people to approach from lower ground to higher ground looking up and see the magnificent structure

In this project I place the footpath around the building on one same levelThere are four different patterns and there will be numerous collections of porcelainsBefore people step inside the building they have to experience four different viewsThrough gaps people will be able to think imagine

My intention is simple to make people to imagine what to expect

SITE CONSIDERATION

The site is located near Bath where the hill top has been flattened out for private use Access via road entrance near planned site inclined in a reasonable degree allowing heavy vehicle access on the road Site is within the reach of cranes from the road which transporation of heavy weight materials may be aidedHowever approach to the planning site is only available through footpath

Wunderkammer is located in the middle of the babyrsquos breath gardenwhere it is surrounded by a dense forest

lsquoApproach to the buildingrsquo possesses its philosophical meaning more than a simple physical action When people walk along the pathway they experience view and think The process is meaningful and somewhat symbolic Monumental architecture such as temples make people to approach from lower ground to higher ground looking up and see the magnificent structure

In this project I place the footpath around the building on one same levelThere are four different patterns and there will be numerous collections of porcelainsBefore people step inside the building they have to experience four different viewsThrough gaps people will be able to think imagine

My intention is simple to make people to imagine what to expect

SITE CONSIDERATION

The site is located near Bath where the hill top has been flattened out for private use Access via road entrance near planned site inclined in a reasonable degree allowing heavy vehicle access on the road Site is within the reach of cranes from the road which transporation of heavy weight materials may be aidedHowever approach to the planning site is only available through footpath

Wunderkammer is located in the middle of the babyrsquos breath gardenwhere it is surrounded by a dense forest

Porcelain is a work of art in itself So it is important to display the purity and aesthetic beautyMy focus was on how the Porcelain should be presented to allow the building to harmonize with it not play against the object

The lsquoGlass Housersquo by Philip Johnson inspired me in terms of display and preservation of objectsThe symbolic meaning of glass which isolates the object from external environment whilst still allowingobservation from outside

Looking at the lsquoFinal Tree Housersquo by Sou Fujimotothere is an interesting overlap of light and shadowsI considered what if one objects in the gaps and on cantileversnatural light coming in through the lsquogapsrsquo shining on objects

Porcelains are exhibited and gifted in a crafted wood box or a bar

My interpretation of Le Corbusierrsquos quote is that function and object should be linked together The function allows people to appreciate fully the aesthetics and purity of porcelains In fact playing with light and shad-ows is a factor to consider Allowing timber bars to stick out from the wall it allows a functional display area and at the same time allows interesting overlap of light and shadows highlighting the objects displayed

In this project I place the footpath around the building on one same levelThere are four different patterns and there will be numerous collections of porcelainsBefore people step inside the building they have to experience four different viewsThrough gaps people will be able to think imagine

My intention is simple to make people to imagine what to expect

The site is located near Bath where the hill top has been flattened out for private use Access via road entrance near planned site inclined in a reasonable degree allowing heavy vehicle access on the road Site is within the reach of cranes from the road which transporation of heavy weight materials may be aidedHowever approach to the planning site is only available through footpath

Wunderkammer is located in the middle of the babyrsquos breath gardenwhere it is surrounded by a dense forest
