(Proj. AF38) Integrated Assessment of Miombo Region: Exploration of
Impacts and Adaptation Options in Relation to Climate Change and
Extremes[Malawi, Mozambique,
Zambia, Zimbabwe]
Project GoalTo assess vulnerability to climate variability and extreme events in the miombo region in terms of life, livelihoods, land use as a basis for production and livelihoods, and to guide adaptation
Researchers are drawn from the Environment, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Water, Economic Development Departments and Universities/Research Centers.
The sectors involved include FOOD, WATER, LAND USE, LIVELIHOODS and NAPAs
Ten Nationalities Involved
• Malawi (5)
• Mozambique (5)
• Zambia (3)
• Zimbabwe (5)
• South Africa (2)
• Australia (1)
• China (1)
• USA (4)
• Tanzania (2)
• Lesotho (1)
Decisions to be influenced
• Agro ecological & silvicultural zoning
• Local level water resources management planning
• Extension & outreach programmes in the environmental resources sub-sector
