Mission: To promote sustainability management in Abu Dhabi by providing learning and knowledge sharing opportunities for government entities, private companies and not for profit organisations in a spirit of shared responsibility, cooperation and open dialogue In the spirit of cooperation and open dialogue to ensure the highest levels of transparency Commit to supporting national plans and strategies

No ADSG Strategic Goals Objectives Actions for 2013/14 Action Lead Stakeholders Progress Priority Comments

1

Raise Awareness and Understanding of Sustainability

Management and Reporting Principles and Practices

High level of awareness and understanding of sustainability amongst government, private and not for profit organisations

ADSG Communications; Web Portal Revision, Launch Journal: Develop plan for developing the portal. 4 quarterly ADSG electronic journals

SA

G L

ALDAR: Believe communication is a key incubator for success and perhaps should shift to High Priority

Launch 1st Survey for member feedback and input into ADSG programmes

SA G H

ALDAR: Agreed and it will be important to chase response and disseminate quickly. Prepare for one to one follow-up to capture responses.

Develop Sustainability Ambassador Programme SA

G M

ALDAR: Would raise to High Priority as Ambassadors will give immediate visibility at events - AGSG own and other initiatives where ambassador volunteers are often called for - Earth Hour called recently for vounteers. Imagine if each ADSG member had even 5 Young Ambassadors how this could quickly mobilise response. Make it a coveted role too - retained by consistent and effective contribution.

Develop approach to reducing carbon footprint SAG L

ALDAR: Believe this sector is fast moving and announcements affecting businesses likely from government this year. Better placed as a High Priority.

2Facilitate the Adoption of

Sustainability Management and Reporting Practices

Best practices of sustainability management and reporting adopted amongst government, private and not for profit organisations

Develop 2014 Capacity Building Programme VS

G L

ALDAR: Agreed but as time moves quickly this will soon move, and perhaps even now, to High Priority.

Run 2 Training Courses for new members Stream A L ALDAR: Agreed

Run 2 Awareness Courses for Senior Management Stream A L ALDAR: Agreed but a High Priority

Run 4 Theme Workshops Stream R H ALDAR: Agreed

3

Provide a Forum for Experience Sharing and

Learning About Sustainability Principles and Practices

Experience shared amongst government, private and not for profit organisations.

Plan and run quarterly Hiwar sessions SA

G L

ALDAR: Agreed but as these will be visible events which will cement ADSG position as Authoritative Voice then make High Priority.

Re-launch Communications team and develop ADSG communications plan for 2013 and longer term strategy

SAA H

ALDAR: Agreed and should move to Green light.

Plan and run quartely FQMs SA

A M

ALDAR: Agreed and as consistency is key to member confidence in ADSG's ability to deliver these should always run to time - with missed opportunites best avoided as this will erode member attendance levels.

4Support Sustainability

Initiatives Within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi

Economic, environmental, social and governance issues advocated by ADSG, addressed by its members and other entities in Abu Dhabi

Produce an Issue Paper for the Waste Flagship Programme (FSP)

MP

G L

ALDAR: Make High priority. The sector is already waiting in anticipation for ADCWM strategy publication - this is the important step for members and the issue may be how we can bring publication forward. The Issue Paper may encapsulate the member expectations as it is difficult for businesses to move forward with confidence without an Abu Dhabi Emirate wide Waste Management Strategy publication. So the issue paper will raise this concern and in a spirit of cooperation offer the ADSG membership expertise as a consultative practitioners focus group to help the peer review process and speed publcation.

Produce an Issue Paper for the SLP FSP JK A LALDAR: Agreed - raise to medium priority.

Submit proposal for SP FSP to GSEC ZM ALDAR: Suggest R progress H Priority

Produce an approach for the Sustainable Finance FSP

BSA L

ALDAR: Agreed but the issue is building momentum and a medium priority is perhaps more appropriate.

Prepare Brief for Sustainable Education FSP VS R H ALDAR: Agreed

Convene/attend meeting to plan Sustainable Transport project with DoT for launch in 2014

HH ALDAR: Suggest R progress H Priority

5Create Opportunities for

International Cooperation and Recognition
