Setting up of ADR Centre in Mumbai

• We are trying to set up the ADR Centre of the Chamber on the 3rd floor of IMC, with a generous contribution from Mr. Suresh Kotak’s family. This will give IMC a great deal of visibility in the critical areas of arbitration, mediation and conciliation.

• Registration of IMC as an Institutional Arbitrator with the Bombay High Court.

Page 8: PROGRAMMES & VISION 2013 - 2014. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

Exhibitions/Trade Fairs

Page 9: PROGRAMMES & VISION 2013 - 2014. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

IT Awards

• The Chamber is organising the IT awards on September 28, 2013, for excellence in this critically important area.

Page 10: PROGRAMMES & VISION 2013 - 2014. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

Website Restructuring

• We will be restructuring the IMC website to make it more comprehensive and user friendly. This will include putting articles written by economists, including from IMC. This will ensure their accessibility to a larger audience, and could also help to spur a strategic debate in important policy areas which would enhance the IMC’s visibility amongst decision-makers.

Study on IWT in Mumbai/MaharashtraUndertaking a detailed study on the topic “Inland

Water Transportation (IWT) in Maharashtra with special reference to the Mumbai Metropolitan Area: Scenario, Perspective and Prospects”.

This is in sync with the theme of the year since sustainable development – particularly of densely populated and sprawling coastal urban areas like Mumbai – will necessitate a much greater and cost-effective implementation of IWT than what is being attempted at present.

Committees addedEconomic Policy

Much progress has been made in the economy in the past two decades but the road ahead of us is still paved with a great deal of uncertainty.

Many pressing issues – slowing growth, rising inflation, fiscal consolidation, a weakening rupee, global economic uncertainty etc. - are looming on the horizon and they all directly affect the productivity and competitiveness of our business community.

All of them need to be resolved on a priority basis through the application of sound economic policy.

It is possible to achieve preset target provided the task is approached logically and rationally. This Committee would help to reveal some solid insights and policy actions in that context.
