LEXIS Instituto del Idioma is located in Malaga’s old town centre, alongside the city’s Municipal Heritage Museum and opposite the historic Malagueta bullring. The beach, the Alcazaba, the Cathedral and the popular shopping street Calle Larios are all less than ten minutes’ walk away. The school has ten spacious, air-conditioned classrooms, an assembly hall equipped with video projection and sound systems, computer terminals with free internet access for students, a Wi-Fi zone, rest area, li-brary and kitchen. Our courses for teenagers are aimed at the 12-15 age group and focus on conversational Spanish for discussing everyday topics. For older students (sixth-form age or equivalent), we offer a more specific programme designed to cater for the demands of the curriculum in their specific country. The academic curriculum is complemented by a rich and varied leisure programme wich can be tailored to suit the needs of the group. What do we achieve?

We help students to see Spanish as a dynamic language that is fun to speak. How do we do it?

Through a permanent staff who are experienced in teaching younger students and love their job.

Through materials which are both effective and enjoyable to use. Through a series of extra activities that complement the learning process.

EXCURSIONS

All excursions depart from a central location close to the students’ accommodation. Transport is by luxury coach in the company of a LEXIS teacher. Trips usually last from 08.00 to 19.30. Any changes to the schedule will be announced by the school prior to departure. If, for reasons not attributable to LEXIS, it should prove impossible to visit any of the monuments or locations mentioned in the itinerary, the best available alternative will be offered instead. The visit to the Alhambra requires advance booking of tickets and tours must be undertaken in the timetable reserved. Late arrival will result in refusal of admission with no right to refund or replacement.

Groups comprising 15 students or more will be taken to and from the airport by coach in the company of LEXIS staff. Groups of fewer than 15 students will use bus, train or taxi services to travel from the airport to the city centre and vice versa in the company of LEXIS staff. A minibus service is available for groups of fewer than 15 students with a supplement.

Where accommodation with a Spanish family is chosen, the most practical option (i.e. coach or minibus) will be used to transport groups of 15 students or more, with taxis being provided for smaller groups. Groups will be accompanied by LEXIS staff while at the airport.

LEXIS offers four types of pre-arranged accommodation:

Hotels 3 or 4-star. All are close to the school, offer top-quality services and are excellent value for money.

Halls of residence. We have two types of residence available. The first, located in the old town centre, is home to university students during the academic year and is available between the months of July and September to groups who book well in advance. The second, housed in a complex of historical buildings that were formerly a priests’ training college, offers a full range of services.

Spanish families. Carefully chosen by LEXIS, they fulfil all of the requirements necessary to provide first-class accommodation with the added attraction of enabling students to share daily life with a Malaga family.

Shared apartments. For families, adults or minors accompanied by a guardian only. Located close to the school, these offer all of the facilities required to ensure a comfortable stay.

The programme includes:

Spanish classes (according to the programme selected).

Teaching aids.

Free use of all school services.

The activities detailed on page 4.

A choice of excursions from those listed on page 5.
