Welcome to the 2015 GIS/CAMA Technologies ConferenceThe GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference is the best place to find technology solu-tions. The Planning Committee reviewed a large number of submissions and it has assembled a program that reflects some of the best learning opportunities available to professionals in property assessment, tax administration, mapping, and information technology. The exhibit hall provides dedicated time to evaluate new and emerging technolo-gies. Exhibit hall hours have been expanded this year to allow more opportunities to interact with key industry partners.Be sure to attend the networking and social events in addition to the sessions. There is no substitute for in-teracting with fellow professionals and establishing a personal network of acquaintances that you can reach out to when the need arises. Be sure to exchange contact information so you can reach out to new colleagues for advice and recommen-dations once you’re back home.

Welcome to Oklahoma,

Christine Schluter

The integration of GIS (Geographic Information Sys-tems) software and CAMA (Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal) software can simplify the visualization of complex data relationships and is at the heart of the GIS/CAMA Technologies conference. The public is better served when GIS and CAMA are used together to illustrate and analyze assessment data from a geographic perspective. This track presents creative solutions from technical GIS users who utilize CAMA data to better understand and visualize parcel and appraisal information.

This workshop examines in detail the fundamentals of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their appli-cations. These systems are often the core of local (city, county) and federal government operations, and are playing a major role in businesses as diverse as mar-ket research, site selection, real estate, civil engineer-ing, and business intelligence. This course will provide an introduction to GIS, GIS software, and review and analyze some applications of GIS. This course is meant to introduce elected officials, managers and non-tech-nical staff to the uses and power of GIS.

Learning Objectives/OutcomesUpon completing this class, students will be able to:• Understand the purposes of GIS and the kinds of

problems to which GIS is applied• Understand the fundamental types of GIS data, in-

cluding raster and vector data.• Be aware of commercially available GIS software

package.• Use GIS operators to perform a number of kinds of

analyses.• Be aware of geographic information that is avail-

able online.• Understand the limitations of geographic informa-

tion systems and of geographic data in general.Keri Brennan, GISP, The Schneider Corporation, Indianapolis, IN

Moving iasWorld® Closer to YouJoin Tyler for lunch and a firsthand look at how we’re moving iasWorld closer to where you need it—at home, in the office, in the field and everywhere you go. iasWorld Field Mobile is the only true appraisal and tax mobile so-lution that allows appraisers to work in the iasWorld com-puter-assisted mass appraisal (CAMA)software solution. This powerful, one-of-a-kind tablet application goes well beyond simply taking document files to the field on a mo-bile device. It places the power of iasWorld in appraisers’ hands by moving appraisal work from the desktop to the field. Efficiencies are discovered, data entry errors are re-duced, resources are conserved and task management is a non-event with the Field Mobile application. Take pho-tos, draw sketches and update parcel data directly in the software while standing on the property. Seamless in-tegration with GIS allows appraisers to preload dynamic maps, which makes mapping routes effortless. The E-file feature in iasWorld moves your taxpayers closer to your appraisal and tax operations without the need for them to visit your office. E-filing gives taxpay-ers the ability to submit homestead, personal proper-ty, change of address and more online in the comfort of their home or a location most convenient to them. In addition to reducing the amount of traffic and paper flowing through your office, E-file loads the data cap-tured online directly into your iasWorld system—re-ducing data entry tasks and creating fewer errors dur-ing the submission process for improved efficiencies. We look forward to showing you how we are moving the power of iasWorld closer to you.

GIS Local Governance, Mutual Aid and GIS within Indian Nations Lands In the real world that people live in, jurisdiction or ad-ministration boundaries aren’t necessarily marked on the ground, and certainly aren’t necessarily respected by natural disasters, economic activity, or the various aspects of the new focus on “Community Resiliency”. Oklahoma is a special place from which all can learn with its many Indian Nations, and the recognition and respect for their land as Sovereign Nations. Disaster re-sponse certainly, plus daily mutual aid arrangements, and now NG911 are the subject of this special session. The conference has invited special guests to tell their stories and plans for the future with respect to their special relationships, complex boundaries and cooper-ative data sharing/support issues. There are common cross-jurisdictional issues we all face, no matter where one is in the country.
