Welcome to the Profit Platform Site Management Area!

This document will take you through the Site Management area to familiarize you with our system, then take you through the basics of building your first site, and finally, will serve as a “Table of Contents” so you know what training videos are inside and where to find them.

You may consider this a “living document”, as we are constantly adding new features and functions to the Profit Platform, which means more training and more videos. When this occurs we will do our best to keep this document up to date.

Please take a few moments to scan the table of contents of this document and perhaps print it for easy reference when touring your Management Area for the first time.

The Site Management Area

Purpose The purpose of the Site Management area is to build and manage your Profit Platform sites. Whether you have a single site license, or an unlimited license, this is where it all gets done.

This is also where you will find all of the Site Training videos, the Traffic Training videos, News and Announcement from the Profit Platform – and even the Technical Support Desk!

Let’s take this one step at a time…

The Technical Support Desk Where do you find the Technical Support desk? Take a look at Figure 1 below:

Just click on the Support link in the upper right corner of your Manage area. This will take you to our Technical Support Desk.

What is the difference?

On this desk, we have several specially trained technicians who are equipped to help you in any issues or questions you may have about the Profit Platform system. Please note that this support desk is reserved for questions and issues of a technical nature only. Billing questions, upgrades, etc. should be sent to http://thecustomerhelpdesk.com

This is a pretty basic Support Desk. You submit your questions and our technical staff will respond. Depending on circumstances, most of our tickets are answered within a few hours, but if there is troubleshooting involved, it may take as long as a few days. This is rare.

Here is what the ticket area will look like:

Your Profile To edit anything in your profile, simply click on the Profile link:

This area is pretty self explanatory:

Note the space for Clickbank Username. That is used for the blog that is installed with your site. If your Clickbank Username is filled in, it will automatically place it in the Banner Rotator on the blog. There are default Clickbank products installed and you can make extra commissions.



Video Training

The Quick Start Training Area

The Profit Platform has an ever growing library of videos to assist with the building and maintaining of your site(s). The first training area is the Quick Start Training area. It consists of a Welcome video, which will walk you through the Manage area, and 4 more videos walking you through the first minimum steps to getting your site built and running.

The Techie Lovers Only Area

This section contains the more advanced training videos for many of the options within the Profit Platform Site Admins, as well as some training which will help in the marketing, tracking and other aspects of running your sites.

Clicking the icons will open a “hover” type pop up window, which will show the video. The most effective way to use these videos is to open a second browser window to implement what you learn in the videos. Watch, learn, pause the video, switch browser window, implement what you learn, switch back and continue watching the video.

This section will continue to add more training videos so make sure you check in once in a while.



Traffic Training

Without traffic, you will not make many sales. But how do you drive traffic to your site(s)? The answer is that there are many ways. What works best for some will not work well for others, so it is important to try many different traffic methods.

This section contains training for many different traffic building methods – some free and some paid. Simply pick the method you want to start with and watch the training.

Driving traffic is something that must be done all the time. It’s not something that you can do once and traffic comes forever. You need to dedicate some time to this for it to work.



Resources

The Resources section has some additional tools to help you with your business – such as access to the MDC Monthly Newsletter – as well as more video training, webinar replays and more. The Recommended Resources section will contain resources we feel will be a benefit, but are provided by others. Some will be free resources, somewill be paid resources. Look around and see how these may help you.

Your First Steps

There are several steps to this process. In summary, you select a product you want to sell from the product list, purchase a domain from your favorite name registration service (Profit Platform highly recommends Namecheap), set the name servers to point to Profit Platform then build your site! Now let’s take these steps one at a time in more detail:

Review the Products Start by clicking the “Build A Site” tab in your Manage area. Scroll down the page until you see all of the Product graphics:

You can click on the graphic to see an enlarged version. Additionally, notice the “Click to Download” link under each graphic (see sample circled above). You can download each of these products to review them to see exactly what your customer will receive on a CD.

Once you decide on a product you want to sell, it’s time to grab a domain (unless you already have one you want to use). If you already have a domain to use, you can skip ahead to the “Point to our Nameserver” section below.

Purchase a Domain If you already own domain names then chances are you already know how to buy them That being the case, feel free to skip this section. All others, we will walk through the process using Namecheap.

Step 1 – Search for Available Domain Right on the Namecheap home page you will see a search box Enter your desired domain name.

Step 2 – Purchase Domain Once you find an available domain name, it’s time to purchase. Please note: do not buy a domain with a registered trademarked name, such as Ebay. They will demand you turn over the domain and could land you in some hot water.

If you do not have an account with Namecheap, you will be prompted to open one. It’s easy and free to open. Once you have your account, you can purchase your chosen domain name.



Step 3 – Pointing Your Domain Once you have your domain you need to point it to our name servers. The correct name server designations are: ns1.mfcomdns.com and ns2.mfcomdns.com

First, navigate to Manage Domains

Next, select the domain you want to use

You will now see some options on the left. Click on “Transfer DNS to Webhost”

In the next screen, you will see where to add your DNS information:

That’s it. You are now ready to build your site!



Building Your Site

Now that you have your domain and have it pointing to the correct nameservers, we can begin building your site. And you will love how simple this is.

In your Manage area, click on the Build A Site tab. As described above, this page contains the product options. But there are a few other things to do on this page. Let’s take this one at a time…

Step 1 – Add Your Domain

Put your domain in the first box, but be sure NOT to use the www. So enter like this: yourdomain.com

This section will also remind you about your name server settings. You should have done this already, but it makes a good reminder, just in case.



Step 2 – Set Your Admin Email and Admin Name

Your Admin email is the email address your site will use as the default email. It’s always recommended to have an email address come off the same domain as your product. But what should you use?

Over the years, you tend to see email address such as [email protected] or [email protected]. You can use these as a default, but we find that many spam filters tend to be more aggressive with email addresses such as those. So as an alternative you can use your first name.

Note: when you fill this in, do NOT use upper case letters or spaces! And do NOT add an entire email address in this box – only the name you wish to use. The @yourdomain.com part is added automatically.

Your Admin Name is the name that will be used in the From section of the emails sent from this address. Most people simply use their name or business name. You CAN use upper case and spaces here.

Step 3 – Choose Your Product

This is the part where you choose your product. Scroll to the one you want to set up and make sure you click on the “radio button” to select it.

If you are “on the fence” about which product you wish to sell, just pick one for now. It is very easy to rebuild your site later and choose a different product.



Step 4 – Build

Take a look at the image below – there are a few things to discuss…

Your Own Products and Graphics If you click on the “I have my own product and graphics” link, a new window will replace the Choose Template section:

Notice it has a place to add your Product Name, Description and Price. This is for advanced users who choose to sell their own products. It will simply use a default template that you need to edit with your own graphics. Choosing this option also means that you need to add your product to the system, and even create your own Master CD to send to our fulfillment service so they can fulfill orders. More detailed instructions can be found in the Manage area Video Training.

“Use the MDC Monthly Newsletters as my recurring product” – what is this?

The Profit Platform uses the MDC Monthly Newsletter as a recurring product to create recurring income for you. You can even offer the newsletter if you decide to use your own front end product! However, you can choose NOT to sell the newsletter and have no recurring option. If you Uncheck this box, then the Newsletter option is removed from the order forms of your site.

Step 4a - Install Wordpress Blog

What is this? Whenever you build a new site add a Wordpress blog and squeeze page are also added by default. You have a choice of where you wish to install the Product page and the Blog. You can put your blog in your root directory and your product in a folder called freetraining - like this:

You can also put your site in your root directory and your blog in a folder called blog - like this:

http://yoursite.com (your free CD site will be here)

http://yoursite.com/learn-more (your squeeze page will be here)

Why would you want to install a blog? The simple answer is it gives you a place to continuously add fresh content to your site – which it’s common knowledge that Google LOVES fresh, original content. This will help you bring up your rankings, will give you a quality content site to link to and even set up PPC advertising around.

The traffic you drive to your blog can then be sent to your CD giveaway page.



Step 5 – Processing

When you’re ready, click the Process button. You will see the Processing graphic. It is IMPERATIVE that you do NOT close the browser, refresh or otherwise disturb the process. This will cause the site to not build fully. Then you will need to put in a Help Desk ticket to have us delete the site and you will need to build again.

When the build process is complete, you will get a Success message on your screen. The message will also contain your sites Login details for various areas of your site (we will cover this later). It is safe to leave the window and no need to write the information down. You will also receive an email with your login information and it can also be found in your “My Sites” section.



My Sites This is the area where all of your site information is kept as well as the gateway to the News and Announcements section. Let’s cover the News section first.

News and Announcements New products added. New features to enhance the system. Bugs and bug fixes. Just about anything that requires an announcement will end up here.

When we have something to announce, your first exposure to that announcement comes as a form of a pop up when you log in. This pop up will only show once during login, but will then be viewable in the news and announcement area.

Above image is an example of an announcement pop up. You can click the Close link at the bottom to make the popup disappear. If you want to see that message again, then you can click on the News and Announcements link:

Once you click on that link you will be on the News page where you can view any of the previous news popups at any time by simply clicking the View links. This will open the messages in a pop up window.

Site Login Details

Whether you have a one site license or unlimited, the My Sites page is where you will find all of your site log in information. This includes:

Link to your sales page Login for your Site Admins Login for your Blog Admins Login for Site Web Mail Login for Site Cpanel Login for FTP

Once you start building your sites, you will see a table like this one:

When you start building more sites, you can sort your domains in this table. When you click on the “Site URL” link or the “Admin URL” link, these will open your site or site admin in a new window. It’s simply a shortcut.

However, when you click the “Domain” link, this will expand a window to show all of your login details:

Clicking on the active links will take you to the different login pages. Then you just enter login details. For the FTP, you would need an FTP software, such as Filezilla, which is free.

Note: If there is a need to delete a site – for example you mistakenly miss spell the domain, you decide to try something different, etc. – then you will need to open a support ticket, let the support staff know the domain you wish deleted and they will take care of that for you.

Here is what you will find:

Main Menu Training These videos walk you through the features on the Main Menu tab in your Site Admin panels.

Main Settings

This video is a walkthrough of the Main Settings page and the Site Admin Panel. You will learn the first steps you should take when setting up your site. You should watch this one to familiarize yourself with the settings.

Changing Your Paypal Email Address

You can choose any Paypal account you have to integrate with your site. If you want to change from the one you chose during setup you can. Make sure to re-integrate your site!



Embed Videos On Your Site

Your Plug and Play site comes with a generic video on the sales page. You can also use your own custom video. It's a very simple process to embed your video on your site, turn off the video skin, and more!

Auto-responder Setup

Next you'll integrate with your email autoresponder. If you don't have an autoresponder, don't worry…we'll show you how to get one. Below are more comprehensive AutoResponder training videos for individual services.

Call Center Setup (optional)

The next step is optional…but highly recommended. If you would like to have the potential to earn some really big commissions you'll want to send the leads you generate over to our call center. They will handle all the phone calls to your new leads and when they make a sale, you get a commission!



Up-sell Settings

Next you will have an opportunity to define what upsells you want your prospects to see as they go through your checkout process. There are several pre-configured upsell options that we highly recommend, or you can define your own.

Set Shipping and Handling Price

In this step you are able to set the shipping and handling price that you charge when someone orders your FREE CD. This price can be anything you want, but you'll what to keep it pretty low to encourage as many orders as possible.

Set Lead Payout

Next, you can also set the payout for any joint venture partners you might sign up. These are people who want to earn a commission by promoting your sites. You get to determine how much you want to pay them for each person who orders your products.

Fulfillment Integration

This step has little to do unless you are making customisations to the site graphics or creating your own products that will be delivered by the fulfillment company.



Administrative Tab Training These videos walk you through the features on the Administrative Tab Training tab in your Site Admin panels.

Managing Your Members (Customers)

The Member Management Tool allows you to see all of your customers, JV partners and anyone else in your system. You can also add members manually, give members upgrades, suspend members and more.

Editing Your Site With the HTML Editor

For quick edits or a major overhaul, you can make all your changes right on line with the built in HTML editor. This also means you won't have to FTP in to your site, download your templates, edit them and reupload...quick, easy and convenient.

Promo Tools Walkthrough and Editing

Each PNP site comes with "ready to use" promotional tools that your JV partners and affiliates can use to promote your offer. They come complete with built-in affiliate links for ease of use. Learn how to make changes or edits to your tools.

Daily Stats

Use this tool to track your daily totals of members, JVs, Sales, and more. You can also search by date, separate by type of membership or even click on an individual day to see how you're doing!



Tracking and Paying Your JV Partners and Affiliates

Learn how to track commissions to your JV partners and affiliates - how much to pay them, how to pay them, and then how to mark them as paid.

Shipping Manager - Video Coming Soon!

This is where you will see if your customers order was sent to the fulfillment company for shipping. This tool is for reference only and does not fully track the order to your customers door.

Squeeze Page Manager - Video Coming Soon!

This is where you select and edit your front end squeeze page.

- Adding Google Analytics to Your Site

Tracking the performance of your site, how many visitors you are getting, where they come from, how long they remain on your site, etc. is a very important part of the process. Learn how to easily get Analytics on your site.

Learn how to track commissions to your JV partners and affiliates - how much to pay them, how to pay them, and then how to mark them as paid.



- Custom Product Site Setup

- Setup and Use of the Site Helpdesk

- Removing the Newsletter Option

By default, when your customers land on your order page to purchase your CD, there is an option for a recurring monthly newsletter. The newsletter is loaded with marketing information that will be a great benefit for your customers, as well as earn you a recurring income! However, if you decide you do not want to offer the newsletter, watch this video to learn how to remove it.

Miscellaneous Training Tab These videos cover training for items that will help you, but may not be in the Site Admin panel.

- Newsletter Subscription Cancellation

When you start getting subscribers to the MDC Monthly newsletter, you may get a support request from your customer asking how to cancel the subscription. We have set up a site with a video showing how they can cancel their account. You can send them here.

- Using Google Analytics Goals to Track Sales

You can track sales of your front end CD, as well as your one time offers by using Google Analytics Goals. Learn how to properly set up goals on your site.

- Forwarding Your Domain Emails

If you have a multi-site license, after setting up your sites, you may not want to log in to every domain email account to check your emails. It gets too time consuming. If you don't use a mail client software (such as Outlook), then the answer is to set up forwarders!

Wordpress Training Tab Here you will find the videos for the Wordpress Option. These will include how to install and remove the blog to your site, specific plug-in training videos and more. Watch for updates…

- Adding a Wordpress Blog To Your Site

Each of the product selections now come with a Wordpress Blog with a matching theme (to match each product template). You have the option of adding one on all new site builds as well as upgrading any existing sites! This video shows how to do both.

Note of Warning: If you are adding a blog to an existing site and you have made edits or customizations to the sales page or order page, this will over write those pages! Be sure to back up those pages before you add the blog! It will NOT affect any customer information.

- Your First Login - Steps to Take

The first time you log in to your new Wordpress Blog, there are a few items you need to take care of. This video will show you these first essential steps to get your blog up to date and ready to roll!

Free Traffic Methods By Matt Bush

There are many on line forums on the internet - especially in the Internet Marketing niche. You can generate some good, targeted traffic when commenting on forums - provided you are doing this correctly...

- Method #3: Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking using the various free sites is a great way to get the word out about your site. Matt covers some of the basics of social bookmarking as well as share a few of the best sites to do this on.

- Method #6: Thoughtful Blog Commenting

Blogging is huge. The number of blogs relating to your product/niche is mind boggling. Commenting on blogs can be a very powerful, free method to help you drive traffic for free.



- Method #7: Web 2.0 Websites

Web 2.0 sites are a great way to provide links back to your sites by allowing you to build pages or sites to add content, etc.

- Method #8: Start with Keyword Research

Good keyword research is essential to help you determine the best keywords or key phrases to try to rank your site for. Competition in this market is fierce so this step is very important for the "long haul" for your sites.

- Method #9: Press Release Distribution

Can a press release actually help your on line business? Absolutely! This video covers what a press release is, the format, places to release, and more.

- Method #10: Content is Still King

Combined with other methods will have some long term benefit for your sites. The search engines love good, fresh and ORIGINAL content. This video covers just what the search engines want so you can give it to them.

Note: You may see some differences depending upon your server. For example, in this video when using the admin to install a plugin, it simply installs. On SOME servers, it is required that you enter your FTP login details. And some other servers may not even allow this feature at all. If using the Admin to install or update a plugin does NOT work for you, then simply follow the FTP directions.
