1.Executive Summary

Rays of Development Organization (ROD) is non-profitable, non-governmental, non-religious and non-political Organization. Rays of Development Organization (ROD) is working since 2004 but in 2006 Rays of Development Organization, registered under the Societies Act 1860 with registration no. RD/SGD/243, based at Sargodha, Pakistan. And its bank account no is 13727900012403.

A dedicated team of teachers, students, advocates, journalists and like minded people from all walks of life started to sit together, share and express their apprehensions over the social injustices and discrimination due to the social unevenness, gender, religion, sect, color, dialect, and race. Increasing dangers to the Mother earth because of polluted water and environmental pollution, lack of education and awareness about various social issues especially primary health care, child rights, women and gender development.

This ROD team of devoted youth started to meet and ponder upon these social issues frequently and tried to find solutions of these social problems on the grass root level. This ROD committed youth gradually started to transform into a non-profit, non-governmental, non-religious and non-political but yet non-registered charitable organization and started to meet at regular intervals. These social issues included almost from all walks of life. But mainly they included the social problems which are of great pain and suffering for laymen in their every day lives.

It is Rays of Development Organization’s utmost effort to facilitate, educate and forge understanding among the underprivileged and uncared residents of the most neglected, undeveloped and far off bucolic areas, about;

________________________________________“Rays of Development Organization” wishes to build a society with Justice, Peace, harmony, health & education for all, democracy without any sort of discrimination, happy and healthy people enjoying equal rights and greener, cleaner and pollution free mother earth.

Rays of Development Organization (ROD) loves and respects every human being, regardless of their color, creed, sect, race, gender or parlance. It speaks up for those who can not speak for themselves.

5. Working/Targeted AreaPakistan is a developing country and a huge majority of the Pakistani population lives in villages. Residents of these villages, towns and slums are illiterate and they depend entirely on the crop growing for the bread and butter of their families. Most of the population living in Sargodha district in slums areas under the poverty line. ROD Organization investigates the slums area where there facilities were not enough in following area, A) Khizer Abad.B) Virk Colony.

After the rapid assessment through village profile collect the data and analysis.

Khizer Abad is situated in Cantt area. Total population is 1164.There is no government or private school for children. During the need

assessment and survey, ROD find out ,that there is no basic facilities available in Khizer Abad. I.e. Health, Education, Safe Clean Drinking Water etc

B) Virk Colony

Virk Colony 15 kms away from the Sargodha city. Total population is 617. There is government or private school for the children. There are only two quacks. During the need assessment and survey, ROD find out, that there is no basic facilities available in Virk Colony. I.e. Health, Education, Safe Clean Drinking Water etc.

6. Structure of Rays of Development Organization

‘Rays of Development Organization’ is supervised and run by a ‘Governing body’. Details of the Governing body are following: -

International Children of DAY 2006

Date: 21-11-2006

Venue: Christian Primary School Chak # 79 NB Sargodha

Participants: 150

ROD observed ‘International Children Day 2006’ with the children of Christian Primary School. Mubashar Bajwa(E-D-O Education)was the chief guest. Children participated in tablos, Drawing competition and Singing competition. The Chief Guest appreciated all the activities of the children, and emphasized on the need of such activities for the mental and physical health of the Children. At the end of the program refreshment was served to the children.

Walk against the Drugs

Date: 20-02-2007

Venue: Shaheen Chowk Sargodha

Participants: 200

ROD and Bismil Newspaper took out a Walk against the Drugs, the purpose was to stop the use of drugs and create awareness especially in the young generation pertaining the drugs. Malik Shoaib Awan (Tehsil Nazim) was chief guest.

Participants: 60 People of different faiths were gathered there, and they shared their faiths with each other. The Chief Guest said that we must respect all the faiths. Pro. Sahibzada Abdur Rasool was the chief guest.

Dengue Fever Seminar

ROD staged a theater play at Akbar Abad Faisalabad. Title of this stage play was “Earth is on Fire!” The Chief Guest Rev. Fr Aftab James (URI) said that we are all responsible for the pollution. But we should make this world clean for the better future of our next generation.

International Interfaith Peace Prayer Day

ROD conducted a “Peace Prayer” at Maghoo Memorial Pentecostal Church. The Chief Guest was Rev. Pastor Zaheer Khan. Children of the schools and members of the congregation participated in the prayer service and Prayed for the International Peace. All the participants lighted the candles.

Eid-Ul-Fitr Gifts

Venue: At the outskirts of Sargodha, at Lahore-Sargodha, Highway.

________________________________________ROD distributed Eid-Ul-Fitr gifts among the deprived residents of a slum located on the outskirts of Sargodha, Pakistan. Intentions of this activity were to forge interfaith peace & harmony among the followers of diverse faiths in a single Pakistani society. Purpose of the gift distribution was to evoke love, sympathy and tolerance.

This program was organized under the banner of URI for celebrating Eid and Christmas together to mark the need for interfaith harmony in Pakistani society. The Chief Guest was Mr. Shahid Kamal (National Director Campus Crusade) and Madam Amtal Kalsoom Bajwa (Principal Govern. Girls school 79 Chak Sargodha).The Students of Christian Primary School 79 Chak performed a drama about both the festivals. Gifts were distributed among all the students at the end of the ceremony.

‘Rays of Development Organization’ gifted textbooks among the destitute students to avert school dropouts. ROD noticed that number of students cease their educational activities merely because their families, appallingly poor, fail to buy them school textbooks. In this regard ROD extended its hand to help such deserving students and distributed books among impoverish deserving students who crave for education.

‘ROD’ conducted a candle light vigil in collaboration of ‘SHEED Society’ in memory of the people who lost their precious lives due to the HIV/AIDS. The Chief Guest was Mr. Riyasat Sikandar (UC Nazim).Later ‘ROD’ carried out a survey about the HIV/AIDS and deduced that HIV/AIDS is gaining momentum and spreading more rapidly in Sargodha, than another city of Pakistan. (It is because of the big number of the Injecting Drug Users’ presence in Sargodha city who are responsible for the spate of HIV/AIDS in Sargodha)

Human Rights Activities

Date: 17-3-2008

Incident: On March 17th Ghazala’s 9, father was about to give his innocent little girl’s hand in ex-change for his marriage. ‘ROD’ intervened in time and stopped her father from fulfilling his sinister intentions. Later on with the help of ‘ROD’ innocent little Ghazala’s custody was handed over to her mother in the courthouse. To whom her father had divorced a couple of months ago.

Date: 17-3-2008

In another incident ‘ROD’ helped Waheeda Noureen, who manhandled by several men of her colony. ‘ROD’ stood firmly besides Waheeda Noureen and helped her obtaining the justice.

Eventually, the assaulter’s apologized due to the immense pressure built on them by the “ROD”, local, national, international media, court and the police. So, justice was served to her, and the assaulter’s were brought to the book.
