Libby’s passion is collecting vintage quilts and then researching their history to let them “talk”. Her most extensive research as been done on an album quilt dating from the late 1880’s, documenting the lives of four generations of women who migrated from South Carolina to Kansas and the family’s struggle to live in a “free state”. Several of Libby’s quilts may be seen in Kansas City Star’s Star Quilts and Star Quilts II books. Lectures & Workshops A Quilt Collector’s Trunk Show - Approximately 25 vintage quilts from Libby’s collection

will be shown as she provides information about the origins of the quilt patterns and how to decorate with quilts.

If Quilts Could Talk! - Have you ever seen a signature quilt and wondered who the women were? Libby wondered when she purchased an Album Block quilt with embroidered blocks. Libby will guide you through the thrill of discovery she experienced as she pieced together the history of four generations of the Miller family, abolitionists who migrated from South Carolina to settle in Free State Kansas.

Fabric Postcards Finishing Your Quilt - Hanging Sleeves and Quilt Labels - Everyone has a quilt story; a

special memory, a special quilt, or what remains of one. Libby can help you preserve your quilt’s history with the following services:

Quilt Display ~ Quilts are meant to be seen, not stored away for the next generation. Libby can add a hanging sleeve to your quilt so that it can be hung on the wall for display.

Quilt Labels ~ preserve what is known about your quilt for future generations. Libby will document information known about your quilt on a fabric label sewn onto the back of your quilt.

Quilt Identification ~ Libby will research your quilt, identify the pattern name and probable sources of the pattern and prepare an archival quality document for your records.

Quilt Restoration ~ Does your special quilt need some TLC? Libby will consult with you concerning various alternatives to preserve, restore, or recreate your quilt or quilt fragment. _____
