Majors & Programs*

Alaska Native Governance – Bachelor of ArtsIn the Alaska Native Governance program, students examine the various governance systems throughout Alaska, study Alaska Native culture and history, and experience meaningful internships resulting in professional and problem-solving capabilities to better serve Alaska Native communities.

Alaska Rural Management - Undergraduate CertificateThrough the Alaska Rural Management Certificate, APU delivers a culturally-relevant education designed for community leaders and Tribal administrators, and managers across Alaska’s broad scope of industries. This six course program is offered in the evenings via distance-delivery.

Business Administration - Associate of ArtsIn this program, students gain the necessary foundation and understanding of core business principles and excellent preparation for entry-level positions in business industries ranging from tourism to human services to health care. Students are able to complete this program via distance delivery options.

Business Administration & Management – Bachelor of ArtsDesigned for experienced professionals, this program focuses on such areas as leadership, ethics, organizational change, and offers concentrations in nonprofit management and healthcare management. Students in this program also benefit from the convenience and flexibility of our synchronous, eLearning course delivery method.

Community Health - Certificate & Associate of Applied ScienceThe Community Health programs at APU are offered to prospective students employed as Community Health Aides in a Tribal Health Organization. Students have the opportunity to participate in training sessions at Regional Training centers and provide onsite care in their local village.

AK Bridge Program - RN to BSNFor those who have already earned their RN license, the AK Bridge Program delivers a distinctive educational pathway to professional goal attainment here in Alaska. The AK Bridge not only offers flexible, online course schedules, but also an education that is grounded in cultural competency and cultural safety. Incorporating indigenous ways of knowing, our program seeks to prepare Registered Nurses to embrace their role as health and wellness advocates of Alaska Natives.
