•Menu uses Jquery
Accordion functionality
• Used a Small Scale Implementation approach (SSI) due to client’s budget constraints.
• Client fully understood at quote stage that the level of service provided by TERMINALFOUR would be scaled back to facilitate budget.
• Very quick turnaround by TERMINALFOUR and Client at each project phase milestone.
tForum.boston 17
• Implemented a level of personalisation on a per content basis, an updated design and a new PHP based calendar. (Intranet)
• Certain content types needed to be visible to different users based on the user’s cohorts.
• The calendar needed to be updated from the JSP version to a PHP version in order to pass W3C compliance.
• Bookmarking functionality included.
• The mega menu needed to be updated to allow for dynamically stacked columns.
tForum.boston 18
Steps:
• User logs in and is authenticated through LDAP.
• Using LDAP attributes the user is assigned a list of cohorts based on whether they’re staff, students etc. as well as what degree, and what year they’re in.
• These cohort values are stored in session variables and are used when deciding what content they can see.
• A ‘Cohorts’ element on a content type is used to restrict the piece of content to particular users.
• PHP is used on page request to only display content that matches the cohort level(s) of the user.
tForum.boston 19
tForum.boston 20
Most content on the page is personalised for
the user.
tForum.boston 21
On page load each individual block is stacked vertically until a maximum height is reached, then a new column is started.
tForum.boston 22
Uses the PHP calendar and personalisation so only events applicable to the user are shown.
tForum.boston 23
Reuses the faculty and staff directory from the public facing website.
• Strong client vision on where they wanted to bring their intranet
• Re-using of content types for both Public and Intranet sites
• Client & TERMINALFOUR identified early in project implementation that a custom approach to development would be needed
• Strong Project Managers on both sides (Client & TERMINALFOUR)
tForum.boston 24
• Allow editors to create and edit UI ‘chrome’ elements
• Inherit this through the site architecture and ability to override the inheritance at particular levels
• To centrally manage particular feature content and reuse that throughout the site
• To randomize the display of feature content on individual pages
• To have fully configurable on-page ‘widgets’ for particular types of content listings and other listings
