A faulty compressor inlet temperature instrumentation caused a miscalculation of the Exhaust Gas Temperature Set-Point by the controller and resulted in over firing of the unit which can result in overheating of critical components in the Hot Gas Path.

Helpdesk – example of solved cases
� Customer called with vibration issue out of hours and requested a man to site.� Dialled into site over STA-RMS and asked the customer to start the turbine.
Monitored vibration levels and found vibration levels were ok and continued to run the turbine.
� No tech would have to be scheduled going to site to investigate the vibration issue.
Example A:

� Customer unable to start unit. Connected via STA-RMS and found that burner#4 was not lighting. Customer was requested to change the Igniter which then enabled the unit to be started.
� No tech would have to be scheduled going to site to investigate.
Example C:
� Customer had a problem with the IDS PC communicating with the PLC so rebooted it.
� Since reboot the PC is asking for a logon password. None of the service account logons worked. The solution was to reload the ghost image from the site backup. The customer was sent a procedure and carried out the work successfully. The PC would logon. The turbine was test started OK and monitored during this via STA-RMS.
� This saved a man to site and possible replacement PC from being ordered along with reducing the customers down time.
