PROFESSIONAL MASTERS IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
The public sphere is the largest employer in Brazil. It encompasses the
three levels and the three branches of government, international organizations,
the non-state public sector, social movements, non-profit organization, think
tanks, philanthropic institutions, as well as areas of the private sector working
on issues of public interest.
A career in the public sphere starts through selection processes
that take into consideration the applicant’s experience, profile, skills, and
specialized training.
The Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration of Fundação
Getulio Vargas (FGV EBAPE) is the oldest and most important School of Public
Administration in Brazil. It has trained professionals – for the country and the
world – since the 1950s.
FGV EBAPE’s Professional Masters in Public Administration is the best
ranked among the programs classified as stricto sensu in Brazil, focused on
applied research.
The program’s faculty gathers professionals with extensive experience
in the management of public organizations and professors with international
capability.

FGV EBAPE is accredited by the European Quality Improvement
System (EQUIS – EFMD), one of the most prestigious accreditations in
the academic world. The European Foundation for Management Develop-
ment (EFMD) awards this credential only to institutions with excellence
at an international level, meeting rigorous quality standards in teaching
and research.
In 2018, FGV EBAPE was accredited by the Association to Advance

graduate business programs reinforces the excellence of the faculty, the
adoption of cutting-edge teaching methods, and the School’s commitment
to continuous improvement.
Given the quality of the Professional Masters in Public Administration
(MAP), FGV EBAPE was the first School with a stricto sensu graduate pro-
gram in Public Administration in Brazil and Latin America to obtain accredi-
tation from International Commission Accreditation of Public Administration
Education and Training (ICAPA). The accreditation is regulated by the Board
of Directors of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Ad-

MAP
OBJECTIVES
FGV EBAPE launched the Professional Master in Public Administration
(MAP) in 2012, to meet the growing demand for high-performance
professionals in segments of the Brazilian public sector. The stricto sensu
graduate program is based on the guidelines of the Coordination for the
Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) of the Ministry of
Education. The professional master is designed to allow the students to
conciliate the graduate studies and their professional activity, transferring
knowledge to public organizations and society.
The program aims to train leaders in the Brazilian public sector.
Students who complete the program can work as consultants, directors, or
managers in public administration. The masters degree also allows students
to advance in their academic careers.

“The intensive class of the Professional
Masters in Public Administration was a pleasant
surprise in my academic history. I could develop my
skills in the areas I was interested in – the areas that
led me to choose the program – and the courses
unveiled new issues that caught my attention
and helped me to re-define my occupational
aspirations. The connection with students from
different backgrounds and regions of the country
enriched the debates held in the classroom and
allowed us to see different solutions to problems
that are common to public administration in
the country, creating an invaluable professional
network. With a prepared, updated, and motivated
faculty offering the most modern knowledge
and study opportunities – including international
experience –, taking off in your career is a matter
of time and depends only on you.”
