STEP 2 EXTERNAL CLEANING Manual: Clean the external surface of the handpiece with either a neutral detergent or enzymatic solution. A soft brush may be used if external debris are still present. Rinse with running water (<38°C, mineralised water is recommended). Do not spray directly on to the handpiece, use a wipe or lint free cloth if required. Dry handpieces using a dry mat, lint free cloth or compressed air. Automated : NSK handpieces with this symbol are thermodisinfector ready. When using a thermo-disinfector ensure the correct handpiece adaptors are used and the rinse and dry cycles activated. Solutions must not exceed PH9.5. STEP 5 STORAGE After sterilisation leave each handpiece sealed in the unopened autoclave pouch. Store in an hygienic area ready for use. By selecting the selection button (1, 2 or 3), until the mode light is illuminated. S: Short / M: Middle / L: Long • S Mode for High Speed handpieces (air turbines) (Cycle time 28 seconds) • S Mode for Blue band Low Speed handpieces and NSK heads (Cycle time 50 secs) • M (Middle) Mode for High Speed handpieces (air turbines) (Cycle time 30 seconds) • M (Middle) Mode for Blue band Low Speed handpieces and NSK heads (Cycle time 64 secs) • L (Long) Mode for High Speed handpieces (air turbines) (Cycle time 33 seconds) • L (Long) Mode for Blue band Low Speed handpieces and NSK heads (Cycle time 84 secs) B.Chuck Cleaning – insert chuck cleaning nozzle into the joint. – hold handpiece securely by hand, insert chuck cleaning nozzle into bur insertion hole of the handpiece. – when cleaning is completed, lubricate the handpiece following the instructions in the NSK iCare instructions manual. C. Straight handpieces Insert the supplied test bur into the handpiece and lock the chuck by turning the bur lock ring. You then connect this to the e-type handpiece joint until it locks. D. Surgical handpieces To avoid any foreign material such as blood remaining in the handpiece it is recommended that the handpiece is lubricated immediately after use (e.g. with NSK Pana Spray plus). E. Press the ‘Start’ button. The door should not be opened until the cycle is finished. B.Chuck Cleaning
– insert chuck cleaning nozzle into the joint.
– hold handpiece securely by hand, insert chuck cleaning nozzle into bur insertion hole of the handpiece.
– when cleaning is completed, lubricate the handpiece following the instructions in the NSK iCare instructions manual.
C. Straight handpieces

STEP 3SPRAY CAN CLEANING & LUBRICATION WITH NSK PANA SPRAY PLUSNSK Pana Spray Plus is a specially formulated, highly effective, spray cleaner/lubricant formulated by NSK for the correct internal maintenance of all dental handpieces, airmotors and air scalers. Regular application of NSK Pana Spray Plus will extend long term product performance, reliability and durability.
It is preferable to purge any excess solution by briefly operating the handpiece. When purging cover the handpiece head with a tissue. Screw the nozzle onto the valve at the top of the NSK Pana Spray Plus can. Position the nozzle into the handpiece or head as illustrated.Apply NSK Pana Spray Plus as follows:– High Speed handpieces 1 to 2 seconds.– Low Speed handpieces and heads 2 seconds.– Always use the correct nozzle for the handpiece being lubricated.
