Adrian H. Nelson is a holistic wellness practitioner who specialises in

life transformation practice and coaching. Even though he has been

reading the Tarot since 2001, his journey as a wellness practitioner

formally started in 2013, when he studied the ancient Japanese form

of energy healing, known as Usui Reiki. Adrian holds Reiki Masters,

Crystal Reiki and Animal Reiki certification. In 2014 he began studying

Crystal Healing under a leading Cape Town practitioner.

In 2018, the desire to assist his clients on a broader scale inspired

Adrian to study NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), which

expanded his services into the life coaching avenue and various

training modules in regression hypnosis. His sessions take a spiritual

approach, pulling on the energy benefits of Reiki, Quantum Touch,

crystals, NLP positive affirmations and ancient alchemy symbols.

He often provides workshops and has experience training various

in-person and online courses, focused on wellness and positive

life expansion. Adrian’s Shaw Academy training pulls on the full

spectrum of his experience and skills.

Introduction toCrystal Healing

10 Crystals for everyday use:

Crystals have fascinated human beings throughout the millennia. References to crystals have been found in multiple religions, traditions and even historic writings. These beautiful stones have a history as bright as diamonds. For a while, crystals lost their appeal until the dawn of the New Age around 1982, which caused a resurgence of interest that continues to expand globally at a fast pace.

Crystals have many healing properties. Records of humans including crystals in their lives dates back thousands of years, these include the Greeks, Ancient Egyptians, Sumerians, Aztecs, Chinese and many more. Tales of Atlantis say that this highly civilised community brought about their own downfall by

1. Clear quartzClear quartz is known as the crystal of all possibility. They radiate unlimited potential light energy, amplifying the vicinity of their surroundings, including that of other crystals. The ever-mystical crystal ball is usually made of clear quartz. In the case of the psychic medium reading the crystal ball, what they do is tap into the energetic forcefield emitted by the crystal ball, which helps them form clearer pictures in their mind. This process is known as clairvoyance. Psychic development forms a key part of the Shaw Academy Crystal Healing course.

2. Rose quartzRose quartz is viewed as the crystal of universal love. They are found in many locations throughout the world. Rose quartz encourages the energy of self-love, deep inner healing, forgiveness and peace. A handy crystal healing and crystal energy grid trick is to use rose quartz to tone down energy if the flow is too strong.

3. Amethyst quartzAmethyst with its bright purple hues is practically impossible to ignore. Amethyst is referred to as the sobriety stone. This name dates back to the Ancient Greeks who believed that even if you drink all night, you will remain sober as long as you kept a piece of amethyst in your drinking cup. The Greek word Amethystos, meaning “not drunk” derives from this practice. This does not really work but it makes for a fun story, as do many other crystal stories throughout this course. It also makes for fun icebreakers with clients or anecdotes during workshops.

4. Citrine Citrine is embraced as the crystal of abundance. A nifty trick for welcoming prosperity into your life is by placing a stone in a bowl with a few coins to attract good wealth. Apart from being great for unlocking creativity, citrine is also great for overall health, blood circulation and natural body detoxification. Citrine in its natural form is available in a usually lighter shade to the more popular bright golden version, which is amethyst that is heated at very high temperatures. Unlike most crystals, citrine does not need to be charged.

5. Amber Amber aka teething beads is not actually a crystal but a gem. The difference between the two is that whilst a crystal has a geometric internally repeated atomic pattern; gems are of pure substance. Amber is tree resin that has fossilised over millions of years. Succinic acid, the anti-inflammatory agent found in amber is known to strengthen the human immune system and improves concentration among their many benefits. Apart from helping babies cut teeth less stressfully, amber is also excellent for arthritis, joint pain, and menopause. Another two gems sometimes used in crystal healing sessions are rubies and diamonds.

5. Black tourmaline When it comes to dispelling negative energy and warding off psychic attacks, black tourmaline is a definite preferred crystal. In clearing the body and space of negative energy, black tourmaline opens the gates for positive energy to flow into your life. By connecting to the root, also known as the base chakra, black tourmaline dispels energy out into the earth. This calming experience is referred to as grounding. As stress is removed focus and clear thought returns.

6. Black obsidian Ancient Native American shamans, spiritualists and alchemists used black obsidian. This stone, which has been around since prehistoric times remains a popular choice for lightworkers up to this day. Black obsidian is formed as volcanic lava cools. This natural process forms a hardwearing stone which the ancients used in creating cutting tools, arrowheads, and spears. Volcanic glass, another name for black obsidian is a powerful aura protector, clearing the natural energy field surrounding the body of psychic smog.

7. CarnelianKnown as the wisdom stone, brownish-red in colour Carnelian is applied in crystal healing to clear infertility blockages, promote healthy digestion and help with tissue regeneration, among its many benefits. Carnelian also is excellent in helping one overcome abuse, it stimulates creativity and invokes stability.

Happy Learning!

The Prophet Muhammed is said to have worn a ring containing Carnelian on this right hand. Ancient Egyptians believed the stone promoted stability.

8. Smoky quartz Smoky quartz dispels anxiety, bringing about emotional calmness. Electromagnetic smog, generated by electronic devices such as computers and mobile devices, is neutralised by smoky quartz. This powerful stone detoxifies on all levels, lifts depression and protects against radiation. Life improvement is a key feature of smoky quartz.

9. Tiger’s Eye The protective tiger’s eye crystal has been a popular choice of jewellers for a very long time. Tiger’s Eye focuses the mind. Healing psychosomatic illnesses is a particularly useful feature of Tiger’s Eye. As is the case with some other crystals and minerals covered in the Shaw Academy Crystal Healing Course, Tiger’s Eye may hold some physical and emotional disadvantages if not applied correctly. Tiger’s Eye can contain asbestos and silicosis, making it unfit for direct contact with the skin.

I look forward to teaching you much more about the stones mentioned in this starter pack, as well as the other stones and natural healing techniques. - Adrian H. Nelson
