Core Training Opportunities Qualify for

the 2008-2009 TRI Program

Attendance qualifies for Bethel Core Training or Self-Directed TRI activities. Workshops are labeled with the qualifying Bethel Core Training category. The TRI Program requires employees who are in their first two years in education or who are in their first year in Bethel School District to complete three days (21 hours) of Bethel Core Training. All other employees who are not “new employees” must complete two days (14 hours) of Bethel Core Training.

Instructional Coaches and CaL / ACT staff are offering courses in each building. Check with them for specific courses available at your school.

State Funded Math & Science Courses

Bethel Core Training and State Funded Professional Development Days in Math and Science must be accomplished by June 2009. This brochure lists qualifying classes available this winter. Additional courses will not be available until the June Institute. The June Institute dates will be announced soon. We are tentative to set confirmed dates due to the inclement weather we have been experiencing this school year. The Office of Professional Development needs a couple days after the end of the school year to set-up for the June Institute. Dates of the institute are dependent on the establishment of the last day of school. Thank you for your patience.

Mark your calendars for the August Summer Institute!

August 12, 13, 14, 17 & 18 (June dates to be announced)

Register Early... Classes Have Participant Limitations

A minimum of 10 participants is required for all classes. You will be notified by phone and email of cancellations.

To confirm or cancel your registration go to the Certificated Development link on the MyBethel portal and log in. Courses may be viewed in the box, “My Classes Upcoming.”

What about cheating? Will I need multiple versions of the same test? What do I require for proof of practice? How will I make students do the practice if I don’t grade it? What practices will my building administrators support? What do I need to communicate to parents? What data should I keep regarding the effectiveness of these practices? Under the desk, on the desk, or in the desk, these students are often easy to pick out of the crowd. This class will give a variety of strategies for the elementary classroom that are applicable and useful for all students and can be easily added to classroom routines and curriculum. Some school-wide strategies and ideas will also be discussed. Elementary administrators and counselors/social workers are encouraged to attend! This course supports Response to Intervention.
