Welcome to the latest editon of the Oracle where the countdown is on for the 2014 NAB Show. In just on 2 weeks time the Las Vegas Convention Centre will open its doors to 1550+ exhibitors and more than 93,000 visitors for the latest showcase of broadcasting, audio and video technology. We hope to see a strong Aussie presence this year so please give a shout out if you're making the trip over.

For our Nautel clients attending NAB, we encourage you to register for the annual Nautel Users Group (NUG) meeting being held on Sunday 6th April (Registration information a little later in the newsletter). There's no cost involved and it's a great opportunity to interact directly with the Nautel design team. This year the NAB Show will have some fantastic new product launches from Orban, Davicom and Tieline and Nautel will be unveiling their new FM transmission solutions hot on the heels of the upcoming March 26 "Next Generation Launch Webinar". Exciting times ahead! On the home front I've just returned from a week long trip to Perth and regional areas where I had the chance to visit quite a number of stations and transmitter sites. Great to see so many Nautel, Orban, Tieline and Innes Corp fans! Thanks to the engineers who made me feel very welcome and graciously took time out from their busy schedules to show me around. Postcards from Perth It was great to have the chance to visit a host of WA clients recently and to see some new Nautel installations. Greg Hateley from 96FM and Dan Jackson from Mix 94.5 couldn't be happier with their new NV10's!

Also located in Perth is the headquarters of Tieline Technology and it was great to have the chance to check out their operations first hand. World leaders in codec and audio distribution solutions, Tieline will have all their latest and greatest on show at NAB Booth C3331. Thanks for the tour Charlie!

ORBAN PC1552 The PC 1552 is the first Optimod audio processor to run natively on Intel hardware. Using a fast Intel Xeon processor, the 1552 can provide stereo audio processing for up to 16 streams with MX limiting defeated and 8 streams with MX limiting activated. Each stream uses one instance of Optimod code and one instance of Opticodec-PC. Opticodec-PC is mature, stable software that maximizes streaming efficiency via the HE-AACv2 codec and offers full support for metadata, including dynamic Title and Artist.

ORBAN Optimod-FM 8600 with Digital MPX

The 8600 with DIGITAL MPX will be available immediately after NAB at no extra cost. Orban's New Optimod-FM 8600 Digital MPX provides a digital composite output using a 192 kHz AES3 connection. This output appears on a male XLR-type connector on the breakout cable supplied with the Optimod. This output is fully compatible with and interoperable with the de-facto industry standard digital connection being implemented by transmitter manufacturers and others.

Two hours south of Perth is picturesque Bunbury where Southern Cross Austereo's Western Regional Chief Engineer Rod Ashworth can be found when not covering the vast number of kilometres between transmitter sites in his region. Hot FM Bunbury is the hub for Rod's operations and it also has the coolest piece of art you'll find in a reception area! Terrific to catch up with you Rod and thanks for your hospitality! .

Staff Snippets

Last month when much of the world celebrated Chinese New Year, Innes Corp hosted a special event of its own. The beginning of February marked a milestone birthday for our company founder and Managing Director, John Innes and a special dinner for close friends, family and work colleagues was held overlooking beautiful Sydney Harbour. A great evening enjoyed by all and congratulations to John on such a significant event.
