I am Professor Bumblebrain, and you are most privileged to be receiving the benefit of my superior wisdom, intellect and er … what was the other thing? Oh yes, that’s it … my brilliant memory. On the other hand, if you are made of

stronger stuff and can’t wait to get your teeth into this book about God (not literally, of course – you’d get indigestion), before we go any further I have a few ground rules

to which I need to draw your attention …

I think those rules are all self-explanatory, so I will now move on to the subject in hand which, if you have been observant, you will know is God.

There are a few very important things that you will need to know about God before we go too far.

Firstly, you aren’t Him. God, that is. If you’ve somehow got it into your head that you are God, can I please encourage you to dismiss the thought this instant.

God is God.You’re you.End of story.

I’m sure you’re a very nice you, but that’s simply not the point.

Please don’t take it personally!

Dear old grannies knit patterned jumpers and buy you socks for Christmas, but when it comes to being God, they’re simply not up to it.

Let me assure you that nobody ever got to

be God just by being nice, or else half the dear old grannies in the world would be queuing up for the job, which they’re

obviously not.
