Costumes•Predominantly black- Because black has the connotations of mystery and potentially evil which suits my character well as he is unpredictable which makes him more interesting and creates tension. Not only this but the drug dealer wearing all black in the video is appropriate as he may be deemed potentially evil by society. As he creates a dependency that is hard to kick for many making him a serious cause for grief

•Puffer jackets- Because society associates this item of clothing with criminals as it is a typical hip-hop clothing convention with so called ‘gangsters’ showing their wealth in clothing. Although not apparent in the UK hip hop scene may still relate to the character as he wants a sort of street reputation.

•5 panel/snap back hat- I chose Jonah to wear a hat of this type because it conceals their identity which humans and animals alike both pressure is a negative appearance making the character look suspicious. But it also represents the style that many teenagers/young men have with their clothing choices.

•White Adidas trainers- The white trainers are used as they contrast from the other black clothing with the hint of white to his outfit representing his diminished hopes, yet not completely dissolved showing he still has a chance in life. The trainers in general are used to maintain the urban feel of the music video presenting Jonah as a typical relatable teenager.

Costumes•Black jeans- Black jeans are used purely for the fact that they are seen as an ordinary fashion item for many teenagers in this country meaning the target audience I am trying to reach are being partially represented in my choice of character costume.

•Chain necklace- I am using this just to present the main character trying to fit in with his stereotypical idols, spending money on jewellery in a capitalistic desire to achieve happiness. When he clearly has greater financial issues to deal with such as a house and car and other essentials for survival rather than style.

•Slazenger black hoodies- I don’t want to over emphasise the colour black on the main character as I think it would reduce the complexity of character I am trying to achieve however if the gang members and drug dealer wear this black hoodie too it will present both groups as fundamentally bad.

Actors: Main character Jonah Savage

I chose Jonah because he is the most appropriate for the role with his choice in style and fundamentally his interest in this genre of music. His look makes him suitable but he is also situated nearby so that I can use him to act at ease. This is fundamental as he will be featured in nearly every shot of my music video. He also has a lot of available time so time management will be easier to organise for my production schedule.

MaxDealer

The reason I decided to choose Max was due to reliability, as I know he will be available and not let me down to allow for me to stick to my production schedule. Not only this however but he is suitable for the role as he is taller than Jonah and more intimidating so would seem like a negative presence. His potential for acting aggressive also conforms to most views of drug dealers being scary and aggressive. Combined with the costume I have chosen him to wear, he will be ideal for the role as a stereotypical drug dealer.

Gang Tom The reason I chose tom is for his look, work ethic

and reliability. This is as Tom is very dependable to e there and always put his all into everything including helping others. This means his acting will have a lot of effort put into it and hen is willing to throw his body about. So I will use him for the assault victim. Also he has the ability to look like a street thug with the way he acts and his physical features coincide with the role I want to depict. Being young and potentially aggressive.

AngusI chose Angus as he is a tall character alongside Kieran so may seem over powering over Jonah which allows me to make the contrast in the perception of tough people. With Jonah's character scaring him and Kieran's characters away despite strength in numbers on their side. The impact this has is showing the power in mind-set and how a corrupted mind can generate enough aggression to physically challenge people larger than them to the point they fear for their lives.

KieranI chose Kieran as he can look quite intimidating when he acts making the fact that Jonah caused the group to flee more effective especially as both Angus and Kieran are taller than him. He is also dependable and close by like the other actors I am using in the video making the footage easier to obtain.

Props• Baggies- This will be used in the drug transaction and

represent the impact and availability of drugs in most areas.

• Tobacco tin-This can be used to potentially conceal any type of drugs the character owns, yet not by too heavily representing drug usage although it is a convention.

• Tobacco- As I have already mentioned coincides wih the look I am trying to create. Whilst making it seem like an unfavourable habit I am not demonising the substance just trying to create a clearer character profile.

• Knife- it will be used to present the second main character as violent and potentially deadly with the combination of aggression and a weapon.

Props• Hypodermic needles- This will be used to show that

the character has resorted to the lowest level of dependence on heroin to provide a source of happiness.

• Coloured contact lenses-I am using this to differentiate the two main characters/alter egos depending on how you interpret the video.

• Rolled up cigarette- I decided to have the character smoking a rolled up cigarette as it seems to ‘upper class’ in some way to smoke a pre rolled one. As it is cheaper to buy in this way so I thought it would be a more accurate representation of the character.

Equipment• Cannon 600D- This will be used to record the footage as it is full HD

and is accessible through the school.

• Tripod- I will use this to make shots clearer and steadier to create a more enhanced viewing experience.

• Adobe after Effects CS5.5- This will be used to emphasise the mental instability of the character by adding visual effects in post production to show hallucinations and alterations in perception.

• Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5- This will be used for the initial editing of the footage to make sure the video is fluid and captures the desired time frames for each scene to make the narrative fluid and link scene so they sync.

• SD card for the camera-This will be used to store and transfer the

footage for editing.
