Production Process:

To construct a magazine the first thing to do is to set a date of publication. This is simply the date that you want the magazine to be released as a finished product to the general public. This creates a schedule to work to. When creating a magazine it is important to take into account that you may need to make corrections. Therefore it is important to set aside a time to make corrections. The next step involves the editorials decisions, which involve the content that is covered in the next issue of the magazine. Once they have made the correct decisions they look at how much money is available for them and how much money should be available for production of the magazine. Next is most likely the most essential step because without content there would be no magazine. There is in house staff writers for magazine and external writers that write about a specialist nature. There are also illustrations and pictures in the magazine. Sub editing is the next process and involves focusing on the quality control of the magazine which involves checking the accuracy of the facts, making sure spelling is correct, punctuation and grammar is used affectively and making sure pages follow the house style. Page Layout- Create a special team called the layout staff. Their job will be to type and layout the various pages. They should use programs like Desktop publishing, InDesign and PageMaker. Furthermore at this stage adverts from advertisers should be placed into the content. Proof reading is an important step. The editorial department should print out a hard copy of the magazine and go through it to see if there are any mistakes and that everything makes sense. Keep proof reading until every member of team is happy. Distribution is the final stage to take place. The company will package the magazines and send them to warehouse. The magazines are then distributed and sold to public.
