Evaluation

The quality of the work is good because it is a good way to capture emotion and this method is also a really fast way of producing the images but finding the right setting and capturing the right emotions without it looking set up would take a while to do. This method would be ideal for a children’s book or even using this way of using the images I could use an effect over the top to create a graphic novel because it is simple enough for a child to look at and understand the emotion getting across and also would be useful to use in a graphic novel because of the effects that could be used over the top. So this makes this method would be suitable for an audience of young children above 5 and up to young adults. So this would make this method suitable for my product. The resources that I would use for this would be a camera, the props and costumes if they are needed and different settings and locations to work with.

Evaluation

This method is not a good quality piece of work for my product as it’s a weak point for me and isn’t a good quality. The time it would take would be unbelievably slow and that would cause the product to not be done on time which wouldn’t be a useful method to use. When the colour is added it would be suitable for a children’s book as it is a bright and simple design for a child to read and understand especially in chapter books because it can be made more complex illustrations for the child and then made more simpler illustrations for a young child who is learning. This would also be a suitable method for graphic novels because of the detail that can be added to make a really complex design with different shading of colours and shadowing. So this methods audience would be anything between a child up to a young adult and this method would be suitable for my product but I wouldn’t use it as it would take too long to do in the time set. The resources required for this method is stationary (pencils, paper, sharpener, rubber, pencils, pens, etc).

Evaluation

The quality of the work I will produce using this method is a really good and clear way to produce a graphic novel. The technique is quite fast and easy to use when I have started but I have to consider that I will have to take my own photos for this and get everything together to organise it, so this could take longer than expected and take a while to do. Most comic books/graphic novels use similar techniques to get that effect and use these in there books. This design wouldn’t be suitable for children’s books as it is too detailed and complex for a child and would be more suitable for a teenage/young adult based audience as they are more easily able to understand the techniques and is a more suitable targeted audience. This would make this method suitable for my product. The resources I will need to use would be a computer to create the design, but, I would need a camera to capture the images, I would need to have costumes, props, models, different locations etc, to create an atmosphere in the images.

Evaluation

This methods quality is good to use and gives great detail to the features and gives that effect of a cartoon, but it also lacks the shading and shadowing in greater detail and is quite simple. This method isn’t as fast as the other comic effects I could use because of the time taken to do every little detail separately and with complex images this could take a while to do. This method is suitable for a graphic novel as it has that cartoon effect to it and more complex for a child to understand so this method would be suitable for my product. The audience for this method is teenagers/young adults who like comic novels. The recourses needed for this method is a computer, a camera to take the images that are being rotoscoped, the props, the costumes, the models and the locations and settings

Overall Evaluation

I feel as if the experiments were a mixture of good and not so good because of the stronger points and weaker points that I have. I feel as if the comic book effect was a really good strong point for me as it was quite an easy method to do which also is suitable for my product because it is suitable for the audience and also maintains a lot of detail. I also think rotoscoping is a good method to use for my product as it works really well and is like the comic book effect, it just takes longer than the comic book effect and would need a lot of time because I will be using complex images to suit the audience and this would be extra struggle to complete with time to take the images as well so it is also not going to be as suitable for my product even though the effect is there. I think that doing illustrations is a big weak point and would take too long for my product and not to a high enough standard for my product as it isn’t a strong point and I would feel more comfortable using a method which I knew would suit my product in my eyes.

For the comic book book effect, I would need to make sure I use light and dark appropriately and make sure all through the graphic novel it has the right tone and mood throughout the novel and show this through the effects of the comic book effect.
