TOP-CO TYPE 535 FLOAT COLLAR – DIFFERENTIAL VALVETOP-CO TYPE 536 FLOAT SHOE – DIFFERENTIAL VALVE

Top-Co Type 535 Float Collar and Type 536 Float Shoe with Differential Valve allow for automatic filling and leveling of the fluid in the casing while it is being run in the hole. The valve will open to allow the casing to fill to 80 – 90% before automatically closing. The operation of the valve is controlled by the differential pressure gradient between the fluid above and below the valve.

The filling action reduces casing running time and minimizes surge pressures on formations. The valve is converted to a conventional check valve by dropping a ball and pressuring up to release the upper flapper. Until the conversion ball has been dropped, the casing can be circulated at any time without affecting the fill-up operation.

Top-Co differential fill float equipment is API II-B rated at a flow rate of 10 bpm for 12 hours, and 3000 psi of back pressure at a temperature of 300°F.

PRIMARY APPLICATIONTop-Co’s float equipment with differential valve are designed to maximize reduction of surge pressure when running close-tolerance casing or liners with a small annulus, while providing automatic fill up of the casing.

PERFORMANCE FEATURES All differential valves are double flapper valves, adding the extra

security of a second valve

Upper and lower flapper seats have a rubber seal to ensure proper sealing

All seals are of B itrile elastomer with a temperature performance rating of 350°F

System maintains a constant differential pressure between the inside and outside of the casing at the floats to ensure constant fluid height within the casing

PDC drillable

BENEFITS eduction of surge pressures on formation

Circulation can be established at any time while running-in.

Allows 80-90% automatic casing fill-up during run-in without requiring the casing to be filled manually

Use of differential collar with shoe provides additional buoyancy

Flapper configuration creates wide open throat for easy circulation of LCM (lost circulation materials)

OPTIONS Conversion ball size options:

1 3 (standard), 1 1 2

ose options include:

Aluminum bullet nose, Aluminum spade nose

Port options include:

Side port, Down- ets, Up- ets

Top-Co’s Type 535 536 series can be run with Type 5 5 8 wik Drill plugs if non-rotating option is required.

Top-Co Type 570 SafeTy Shoe

Top-Co Type 570 Safety Shoe is designed to enhance primary cementing operations by eliminating two joints from field make up. The guide shoe and float collar are factory installed and welded to the shoe joint. The Top-Co Safety Shoe is a one piece guide shoe, shoe joint and float collar and is a safer, quicker and cost effective method to run casing in the well.

performanCe feaTureS• Reduces rig time eliminating the washing of threads, thread locking and making up of shoe and collar.• All welded construction ensures the shoe cannot be screwed off during drill out operations.• Reduced drill out time due to length of safety shoe. The shorter shoe joint means a deeper plug back depth allowing more flexibility for perforating and landing tubing.• Utilizes Top-Flo valve assuring the operator of API IIIC performance.

TOP-CO TYPE 928 EZ REAM FLOAT SHOE

Rev. 2 May 1, 2011

Top-Co’s Type 928 EZ REAM Float Shoe is manufactured to meet the IIIC rating per the API 10F standards. Manufactured from seamless casing grade steel (available in all grades), the 928 EZ REAM float shoe features the open cage Top-Flo valve. The Top-Flo valve provides a high flow area with temperature capabilities up to 400°F. The open cage design of the Top-Flo valve is optimized to allow for circulation of LCM materials while keeping the overall length of the float equipment relatively short minimizing costs.

PRiMARY APPLiCATiOnTop-Co’s Type 928 EZ REAM Float Shoe is a heavy duty and a robust shoe designed for casing and liner applications. This is the industry’s only steel reaming shoe that is PDC drillable. A durable tungsten carbide and PDC cutting structure – an industry exclusive – allows for reaming longer intervals through the most challenging hole sections, even reaching total depth in a severely compromised borehole.

PERFORMAnCE FEATuRESEZ REAM TECHNOLOGY

• EZ REAM technology is drillable with a standard PDC or roller cone in onshore and offshore applications. The unique, patented profile combined with the material properties facilitates faster drill-out than competitive designs.

• With some reamer shoes, there is a risk of leaving an undrilled portion of the nose down hole, which could damage the next bit or BHA. The 928 EZ Ream Shoe, designed with a concave profile drills out from centre to shoulder eliminating the risk of leaving an undrilled portion in the hole.

• This is the only casing/liner shoe to offer a secondary bypass port, which allows normal circulation or cementing to continue in the event of nozzle plugging.

• The 360º gauge coverage offers added stability and improves reaming efficiency. The tool is undersized to promote a smooth transition of the liner through the predrilled hole.

The Top-Co Type 217 double latch down system consists of screw in latch down Baffle Plate and Type 217 Top-Plug. The Baffle Plate is threaded to screw into a float collar or coupling. The plug features an O-Ring seal and a set of locking slips on the nose. When the Plug is pumped down, it latches into the Baffle Plate. The slips lock the plug firmly in place and the “O" ring hold pressure from either direction. Latch down plugs are used to make sure that the plug remains in place in the event of the float valve failing; in case of float failure the plug will prevent flow back The Type 217 is available in sizes from 2 -3/8” to 7”

The Top-Co Type 247 Anti-Rotation Top Cementing Plugs and Type 248 Anti-Rotation Bottom Cementing Plugs are plastic cored cementing plugs with integral teeth designed to prevent rotation of the plugs during drill out operations. The plugs use plastic (Phenolic) teeth that are reinforced with fiber material to prevent tooth breakage when landing the cementing plugs. The plugs can be drilled with either conventional rotary drill bits or PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact) drill bits. Designed and tested to withstand 5,000* psi of differential pressure, the plugs can be pumped onto the float equipment at pumping rates of 10 barrels per minute. A reduction of up to 95% in drill out times can be expected when compared to conventional plugs. The wiping and sealing fins are moulded from Natural Rubber or Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR) rubber with the minimal thickness of rubber designed to allow for proper wiping and sealing. The bottom plug has a diaphragm rupture rating of 200-500 psi. The plugs are designed to fit in conventional cementing heads and can be run with Top-Co Type 225/226 and 235/236 equipment.

RUNNING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Plug(s) should be inspected prior to loading into the cementing head. Should a plug condition be unacceptable obtain a plug in usable condition and return the plug deemed unusable to Top-Co for credit.

2. Identification of the bottom and top plugs needs to be ensured. Colour coding is

generally used to identify top and bottom plugs with the top plug being black and the bottom plug being orange or red in colour. In addition to checking the colour, markings and labels should be read to ensure proper identification. If still unsure of the type of plug (label is not present) a bottom plug can also be identified by a thin diaphragm located on the plug that is located in the hollow center section of the plug. The top plug will either be solid or have a thick center section.

3. If a bottom cementing plug is being used, ensure it is placed in the cementing

head with double verification that it is the lower plug loaded into the cementing head.

4. The bottom plug will normally be released prior to the pumping of the cement. If

a spacer is used between the bottom plug and the lead slurry, and the spacer contains lost circulation materials do not stop pumping until all the cement has been pumped and displaced. As the bottom plug is released ensure that it has left the cementing head and has moved down the casing.

5. Pump cement. Once the tail slurry has been displaced release the top cementing

plug. Ensure the plug has been released from the head and the plug has moved down the casing. Note: it will take 200-400psi to rupture the bottom plug diaphragm. Cement lines should be pumped out placing a small amount of cement behind and on top of the closing plug. This will enhance the ability to drill out the plugs.

6. As the top plug approaches the bottom plug (or float collar) slow the pump rate to

.8 cu. meter / 5 barrels per minute for casing size 10 ¾”/173mm and higher, and to .4 cu. meter / 2.5 barrels per minute for casing size 9 5/8” and smaller. Monitor pressure and check for bumping of the plug.

7. Once the top plug has bumped, check for flow back by recording the amount of

fluid bled back to the pumping unit. If flow back occurs solids may be caught in

the valve(s), preventing positive sealing. Allow fluid volume equal to one meter / 3 feet of casing volume to flow back then apply pressure again and re-bump the plug. Re-bumping the plug will allow flushing of the valve to move the solids and allow the valves to reseat. Note: A reading of pressure over and above the displacement pressure required to land the plug may not be an indication that the valves are not holding. If the pressure reading remains higher than displacement pressure air entrapment in the displacement fluid may have occurred. Should this condition exist, hold pressure for several minutes and allow the air to migrate to the top of the fluid column, release pressure and check if the valves are holding.

The Top-Co Type 252 Top Cementing Plugs and Type 253 Bottom Cementing Plugs are plastic cored cementing plugs designed to be drilled out with PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact) drill bits. The plugs are built using plastic cores to which an outside layer of rubber is moulded. The plastic cores are manufactured from phenolic plastic, which has over 30,000 of psi compressive strength. The wiping and sealing fins are moulded from Natural Rubber or Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR) with the minimal thickness of rubber designed to allow for proper wiping and sealing. The plug set is designed and tested to withstand 5,000 psi differential pressure. The bottom plug has a diaphragm rupture rating of 200-500 psi. The plug sets are also designed and tested to allow them to be pumped onto the float equipment at rates of up to 10 barrels per minute. A reduction of up to 90% in drillout times can be expected when compared to drillout times for conventional aluminum cored rubber plugs. Typical drill out times for a set of top and bottom plugs is size 7” is 4 to 6 minutes, 9 5/8” 5 to 10 minutes and 13 3/8” 7 to 15 minutes.

The Top-Co Type 717 Anti-Rotation Top Cementing Plugs and Type 718 Anti-Rotation Bottom Cementing Plugs are plastic cored cementing plugs with integral teeth designed to prevent rotation of the plugs during drill out operations. These plugs are specifically designed for tapered string applications where it is required to wipe more than one size of casing. The plugs use plastic (Phenolic) teeth that are reinforced with fiber material to prevent tooth breakage when landing the cementing plugs. The plugs can be drilled with either conventional rotary drill bits or PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact) drill bits. Designed and tested to withstand 5,000 psi of differential pressure, the plugs can be pumped onto the float equipment at pumping rates of 10 barrels per minute. The plugs are designed to fit in conventional cementing heads and can be run with Top-Co Type 225/226 and 525/526 equipment. TYPE 717

a spacer is used between the bottom plug and the lead slurry, and the spacer contains lost circulation materials do not stop pumping until all the cement has been pumped and displaced.

Type 650 Stage Cementing Collar has been designed for stage cementing applications where the operator wants flexibility to open the stage collar either hydraulically or mechanically. The design features two internal sleeves that shift during the stage cementing operations. The bottom sleeve can be shifted open through the use of hydraulic pressure or by dropping an opening dart and allowing it to gravitate to the opening seat. The stage collar can be field set to open hydraulically at different opening pressures. This is achieved through the addition or removal of the shear screws from the stage cementing tool. The changing of the opening pressure does affect the force required to open the stage collar mechanically if an opening bomb is subsequently used. Closing of the stage cementing collar is affected through the pumping of a closing plug behind second stage cement and applying pressure upon completing displacement. Type 650 stage cementing collar can be ordered for applications for two or three stage cement jobs. Type 650 can also be used in liner applications when the closing plug has been adapted to fit the closing seat in the stage collar.

When a plug-opened stage tool is run with an integral packer above an open-hole completion above 20° deviation (The displacement opening plug can keep cement off the bottom of the hole by opening the stage tool and setting the integral packer.)

When the stage tool must be placed closer than 500 ft. from the shutoff baffle, which could cause excessively high opening pressures because of the need to compress the fluid in a closed Free-Fall plug setup.

One advantage of the displacement method is that it can be continuous; once started, uninterrupted pumping can continue until all stages have been completed.

Fluid volumes must be accurately calculated and carefully measured to help prevent over displacement or under displacement of any of the stages, especially the first stage.

Type 651 Stage Cementing Collar has been designed for stage cementing applications where the requirements dictate, or it is preferred that the tool be opened mechanically. The design features two internal sleeves that shift during the stage cementing operations. The bottom sleeve is shifted open by dropping an opening dart and allowing it to gravitate to the opening seat. Closing of the stage cementing collar is affected through the pumping of a closing plug behind second stage cement and applying pressure upon completing displacement. Type 651 stage cementing collar can be ordered for applications in two or three stage cement jobs. Type 651 can also be used in liner applications when the closing plug has been adapted to fit the closing seat in the stage collar.

GuideLines

Ensure that surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free from oils, greases, and thread compounds. Paste and hardener should be kept at room temperature and out of direct exposure to sunlight/heat prior to and after mixing. Add the complete contents of the bottle of hardener to the can of paste. The system must be mixed thoroughly. Pot life is 20+ minutes at room temperature, with time decreasing as the ambient temperature is increased. The Top-Co Type 200 is exothermic, meaning it generates its own heat through chemical reaction. The addition of temperature greatly reduces the pot life and curing time.

APPLICATION AND RECOMMENDED OPERATING PROCEDURES

Top-Co’s primary cementing tools and casing accessories are essential components of a successful casing or cementing program. Casing accessories assist the operator in successfully placing and supporting the casing string in the wellbore, enhancing mud removal and providing zone isolation.

Proper selection of primary cementing accessories reduces the need for a secondary cementing, ensuring tubulars get to target depth, achieve optimum circulation and reducing risk of differential sticking.

CENTRALIZERSCentralizers provide uniform annular clearance and reduce friction while running casing. Top-Co API centralizers meet or exceed API Specification 10D, meeting starting, running and restoring force criteria.

Non-API centralizers were developed for unique well conditions or where hole conditions do not allow API centralizers to be run. Tight restrictions in well design may require use of positive rigid centralizer design.

Hinged centralizers offer easy installation around casing coupling or stop collar. Slip-on centralizers, a stronger design, are utilized in close tolerance applications and cannot be run over couplings or stop collars. They must be installed with set screws or between stop collars. Slip-on centralizers are suitable for pipe reciprocation requirements.

Bow Spring Centralizers feature the following benefits:

• Centralization of casing in the wellbore• Prevention of differential sticking• Smoother running capability due to reduction of frictional forces• Allows for reciprocation or rotation of casing• Provision of reinforcement to the cement column• Bows can be configured to meet any hole diameter

Positive Bow Centralizers offer the following performance features:

• Stand-off in cased hole sections allowing up to 95% stand-off inside previous casing• Cement surrounds casing for a proficient cement column• Smoother running capability due to reduction of frictional forces• Allows for reciprocation or rotation of casing

Non-Weld Bow Spring Centralizers have been designed to meet optimum force criteria. The design of the non-weld centralizer offer unique features including the ability to ship unassembled yielding shipping and storage cost reductions. The compatibility of the bows with various end band sizes reduces inventory requirements and gives increased flexibility of casing and hole size combinations.

Non-Weld Positive Centralizers are designed for cased hole and provide nearly 100% stand-off facilitating liner and packer positioning and stage cementing. The bow profile design permits maximum fluid passage and reduces frictional drag force in deviated hole conditions.

SPECIAL APPLICATION CENTRALIZERSTop-Co provides centralizers for many applications.

Special applications include:

• Close tolerance requiring an outside diameter only slightly larger than hole size.• Free rotation of the string requiring solid collar centralizers.• Vastly greater side load conditions requiring rigid centralizers to meet stand-off requirements.• Deviated and horizontal well applications where the bore hole is well consolidated and a good primary cementing job is necessary.

Rigid Centralizers aid in positively centering the casing in the wellbore during cementing operations. Applicable for horizontal and Rev.1 February 1, 2010

Page 134: Product Technical Data Manual April 2012 TOPCO

APPLICATION AND RECOMMENDED OPERATING PROCEDURES

highly deviated well designs, the rigid centralizers center casing in previous cemented casings and liner overlaps and can assist in aligning casings through well heads near surface.

Stand-Off Bands can be used in well designs where casing reciprocation and / or rotation is required and was developed to be used in long string cementation highly deviated applications. The stand-off band is utilized in the hole sections where casing to wellbore contact must be avoided to reduce drag and prevent differential pressure sticking during running of the drill string. This easy to install tool creates positive stand-off of the casing and is effective in keeping the string free in running.

Heavy Duty Stand-Off Bands are available in straight or spiral blade options. Spiral blade stand-off bands have better stand-off capabilities and augment annular turbulence.

To determine left hand or right hand spiral look at the centralizer standing upright in running position. Looking at the bottom of the blade or bow follow it to the top and if the top of the blade or bow shifts to the right then it is a right hand spiral centralizer.

PROPER CENTRALIZER SELECTIONSuccessful casing and proper placement of casing centralizers are necessary in obtaining a quality primary cement job. Proper selection is the key and Top-Co’s spacing program can be run to ensure efficient casing stand-off, torque and drag. It calculates the minimum number of centralizers and determines optimum placement.

STOP COLLARSStop Collars are used as an integral accessory to keep centralizers and other casing attachments in place on the casing string. The collar design should allow casing rotation with no or limited protrusions that could hang up on a centralizer blade. A stop collar should always have a stronger holding force than starting force and is built to API recommended practice 10D2.

CABLE WALL CLEANERSMany operators run cable wall cleaners to assist in removing excess filter cake and gelled mud from the wellbore, providing a better bonding surface for the cement. The cable wall cleaners also add localized turbulence during cementing process and can also act as steel reinforcement in the cement sheath.

RECOMMENDED OPERATING AND INSTALLATION PROCE-DURESProper installation of casing attachments ensure minimal or no damage is incurred while running casing to total depth. All centralizers are designed to be either slipped onto or hinged over the casing or coupling.

The program can be designed to advise minimum spacing or minimum stand-off.

Proper centralizer placement will minimize stand-off sag.

perforManCe feaTureS• Starting and restoring force tests performed in Top-Co’s test facility ensure Type 336 centralizer consistently exceeds API Specification 10D.

• When the bow dipped contact portion contacts the coupling the force exerted by the centralizer to centre the casing increases dramatically allowing the Type 336 to act similarly to a positive or rigid bar centralizer.

• Springs are manufactured from high-strength 9 gauge AISI 4130 steel providing the high strength and wear resistance required for down hole conditions encountered in drilling of highly deviated and horizontal wells.

BenefiTSThe Type 336’s ability to be laced over coupling allows it to move with the pipe’s reciprocal action without the need of a stop collar yielding reduced equipment costs and decreased expensive rig time.

• Improved standoff for increased mud removal

• Reduced drag while running pipe

• Easy fluid movement in annulus

• Good position of casing in centre of wellbore

• Ease of running while maintaining excellent running force

The Type 341 Heavy Duty Stand-Off Band is designed for severe loading conditions where positive stand-off of the casing is desired. The stand-off band is of welded construction and features solid steel vanes rather than formed vanes as used on the type 340 stand-off band. At 5.0” long, The Type 341 can be ordered in Left Hand & Right Hand construction and in a variety of Outside Diameters. The Left & Right hand vanes are set at a 45° angle which has been shown to offer the best wellbore turbulation available. Integral set screws are located on these units to allow the Type 341 stand-off bands to be attached to the casing without the use of stop collars. These units are not recommended for applications in unconsolidated formations as the leading edge of the vane may dig into the formation and prevent the casing from being run to depth.
