Absolute Quality: PRM Low Profile Air Strippers are an efficient and compact product for treating contaminated water. The water stream flows over a distribution weir and along the horizontal trays. Forced air is blown through holes in the trays and forms a froth of bubbles generating a large mass transfer surface area where the contaminants are volatilized. The clean water exits the stripper and the off-gas vapors are treated as required.

The PRM Difference: PRM strippers use a unique tension rod which allows for proper torque of the trays which eliminates leaks. As the stripper and gaskets age the tension rods can be tightened to seal the gaskets extending the life of the gaskets. PRM design reduces fouling problems often associated with air stripping. The large diameter air distribution hole combined with the turbulent flow reduces build-up of oxidized iron. Should build up occur the trays are easily removed for cleaning. Additional access ports can be added to facilitate inspection and cleaning.

Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) reduces concentrations of volatile constituents adsorbed to soils above the water table by applying a vacuum through wells near the source of the contamination. The contaminated vapors are drawn toward the extraction wells and are treated and removed. Often SVE systems are used with Air Sparging, which causes the contaminates to evaporate faster, making them easier to extract.

Absolute Quality: PRM has manufactured Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) systems for 25 years. There are a number of blower types or vacuum pumps which can be used in SVE systems depending on air flow rate, vacuum, pressure, and other design considerations. PRM manufactures SVE systems using regenerative, rotary lobe, or positive displacement blowers, or with a liquid ring pump. Regenerative blowers are typically used for low to moderate flow rates or vacuum/pressure requirements. PD blowers are more commonly used for higher flow or vacuum/pressure requirements. Absolute Quality: PRM Gas Fired Thermal Oxidizers are typically used for destruction of higher concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). When operated in a straight thermal mode, the units are fired to 1400°F and retention times are 1.5 seconds. Destruction is typically >99.9% for VOCs. When operated in catalytic mode, the units are fired to 700°F and destruction is >95%-99%. PRM induces fume directly into the combustion chamber aimed towards the burner. As waste decomposes in a landfill, gas is produced composed mainly of methane and carbon dioxide. Landfill gas can be a reliable energy source for both industrial and residential use, and its conversion reduces greenhouse gas emissions, pollution and energy costs. However, landfills are naturally dirty and retain particulate and moisture. Inadequate filtration of produced gas will lead to extraction system damage, heat exchanger fouling, and can lead to safety hazards at energy usage sites.

Non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) are organic liquids such as fuel oil and gasoline that are sparingly soluble in water and are not subject to efficient removal by other technologies. Because they do not mix with water, they form a separate phase. NAPLs can be lighter than water (LNAPL) or denser than water (DNAPL). Designed For Vapor Extraction and Air Sparge Applications Absolute Quality: PRM offers the DFG series rotameters for SVE/AS Applications. PRM rotameters are scaled for standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) and can be used on pressure applications and high vacuum applications.

Activated Carbon is used to filter harmful chemicals from contaminated water and air. It is composed of black granules of coal and other carbon-rich materials.
