In 2012, the International Building Code officials added sections which

mandate that all non-residential buildings over 75 feet in height must

install Photoluminescent Exit Path Markings in all enclosed emergency

stairwells. PL Egress products are required by IBC, IFC and many other

national and local building codes.

The International Building Code (IBC) is the most recognized and utilized model building code in the world. IBC incorporates the most demanding performance criteria worldwide. IBC 1023.9 - IllumiTread™ Floor ID Signs - Photoluminescent stairway identification signs shall be

included in interior exit stairways. Effective January 2009.

IBC 1025-IllumiTread™ Egress Path Products-Photoluminescent markings shall be provided in

interior exit stairways of building types A, B, E, I, M, R-1. Effective January 2009.

NFPA 101 & 5000-Photoluminescent exit stair path markings optional for all Buildings new &

existing regardless of height. Effective January 2009.

State of California Building Code, Chapter 10, Means of egress require in group A, E, I, R-1, R-2, &

R-3-Occupancies in exit corridors leading to emergency exit stairwells. Effective January 2008.

General Services Administration, GSA, PBS P-100, Section 7.8 requires photoluminescent exit path

markings in all new & existing buildings. Effective March 2005.
