WHY METAL AND NOT WOOD?One of the most common questions SafeStore get asked is“why should I buy metal when it will just rust? Why should Inot buy a cheaper, wooden shed”? All SafeStore sheds aremade from thick, galvanised (weatherproof) steel and coatedin a polyester powder coat paint. This combination ofprocesses makes the steel not only weatherproof but excep-tionally tough and durable. SafeStore use only zinc coated(rust resistant) screws for assembling our sheds.

WEIGHTGood quality metal sheds are heavy. SafeStore sheds aremade from thick steel and include an integral metal base.So a SafeStore shed is very heavy! With weight comes qual-ity and security. With some SafeStore sheds weighing over60 stone you can be sure of strength and security. WithSafeStore units you can choose to fix your unit to the floorusing our (included) ground fixing kits, giving you themaximum security for your tools and equipment. Onaverage our units are 5 times heavier than the equivalentsized product from other companies*.

SECURITYA metal shed has a metal roof and metal doors. A woodenshed is weak in comparison and can be simply “kicked” in. ASafeStore unit has integral stiffeners, internal shoot bolts(depending on model) double folded joints, hidden fixings,integral all metal floors, pick resistant locks and groundanchor points. Add to this (on selected models) our internal roof clips and you really have the maximum securitypossible. Many SafeStore units have been approved by theUK Locksmiths Association or are LPCB rated to level 1.

REVIEWING THE ARMADALE‘It is as solid as it looks. It’smade from 1.2mm thickgalvanised steel panels andweighs an impressive 103kg.It’s not going anywhereeasily, and for further se-curity the metal base can bebolted to the floor. There’s athree-point locking system,and the main lock is a Eurocylinder claimed to be pickand drill resistant.It arrivedflat packed on the back of a lorry. There’s quite a fewpieces, and the biggest bag of bolts I’ve ever seen in mylife. Fortunately my fear at constructing it provedunfounded, the instructionsare easy to follow and it goesup easily in a short space oftime.’

based in Bradford, thatmakes high quality, steelsheds and garages in all kidsof sizes. I’ve got a couple ofmates who have on it itsunits and so I’ve seen thequality first hand. TheMotorcycle-Plus unit lookedperfect for me – big enough(5ft wide x 10ft 9in deep x 6ft7in tall) for two bikes, countsas a garage for insurancepurposes (and is a darn sightmore secure than most up-and –over garage doors), butneeds no planning permis-sion. It’s a lot cheaper thanbuilding a garage too.’

REVIEWING THEARMADALE‘This is a beast of a shed.Comes in green or ivory it can store three bikes(including, and i’ve tried,bikes with baskets), plushelments, shoes and allother paraphernalia. Theshed is made from thick gal-vanised steel panels, morethan 150 screws, bracketsand fixing devices and has aheavy-duty integral metal, 5-point locking system; themain lock is a Euro cylinderwhich is claimed to be pickand drill resistant. It needsaround 2 square meters ofoutdoor space and a flat,concrete surface to sit on.SafeStore can construct it foryou - but if you try it yourselfyou will need a powerdriverscrewdriver and a friend tohelp.

REVIEWING THEBIRKDALE‘Spending over £1,000 on ametal garage is a seriousdecision, especially whenthe same amount of moneycould buy one hell of awooden shed. But after a fewmonths using this SafeStoregarage I’ve been converted.If security is an issue thenthis could be the answer.Secure locks give the doors a sturdy feel, and steel sidesand roof would defeat all butthe most serious of tools.The interior has a plug sock-et and vents so wet bikes candry and there’s a shelf foryour helmet. It’s designedfor one bike but you couldsqueeze two bikes in. It onlytakes up minimal room, butneeds a concrete or slabbase.’
