Designed by award winning architect Craig Hamilton and built using traditionallime based materials the private chapel is a new build and will serve as a place ofworship for up to 30 visitors. The project took a total of ten months to complete.
Case StudyPrivate Chapel - Winner of Plaisterers Trophy 2006
Internally the ceiling to the nave andvestibule involved the manufacture of anumber of curved panels that form thebackground of the coffer, manufacturedin Ornate Interiors’ workshop and fittedon site. All coffers were formed on siteand the rosettes modelled to thearchitect’s design. The apse wasmanufactured in three giant 2.4 metresections with four types of rosette, diminishing in size, installed into eachcoffer. An anthemion band anddiminishing fluted band were alsomanufactured to the architect’s design.
Plastering of the walls between each of thecolumns was carried out using a naturalhydraulic lime plaster applied in three coatswith lime harling applied to the externalwalls. All of the pieces slotted togetherperfectly and the result is a stunning brandnew chapel that retains a host of historic, ornate and decorative traits.
This was an extraordinarily demanding jobthat involved a high degree of precisionand knowledge. The sheer scale of thevarious aspects manufactured in housegave it the appearance of a large jigsaw.

Traditionally, a dado rail provided the wall withprotection from furniture. In more modern homesdado rails can be used to break up large plain areasto create a more decorative look.
Panel moulds when co-ordinated with quadrants caneffectively be used to frame an architectural feature orpainting. The versatility of panel mould permits the creationof visually stunning features within large open areas.

“Ornate Interiors continues to deliver products to a consistently high standard. It is important for us
as a principal contractor that our sub-contractors have the same ethos about quality and levels of customer service.
If all of our sub-contractors were like Ornate Interiors,
our job would be much easier”.Mr. Vernon Carter - Managing Director, William Anelay Limited, York – Main Contractor
“Over the last fifteen years I have worked with Ornate Interiors, whose work is renowned
on some of the most prestigious projects. My work in Royal Palaces, Cathedrals,
Stately Homes and Civil Buildings restoring historic interiors has required the highest standards of craftsmanship
and they have never let me down”.
Mr. Dick Reid - Wood & Stone Carver
“The quality of workmanship and dedication of your staffto the work in hand was recognised by the client and ourselves
from the initial stage. This only encouraged us to design more and more ceiling cornices, friezes, ribbed vaulting and roses etc.,
to the extent that the end result is a triumph in stuccadores art”.
Mr. David Sheehan - Sheehan & Barry, Dublin – Architects
Columns are structural elements with proportionaland decorative features.
Today many ornamental columns are formed from fibrousplaster and GRG (Glass Reinforced Gypsum).
Ornate Interiors can supply complete interior free-standing columns or half-columns which can be attached to a wall to create a grand impression.
Columns are generally installed beneath arches to enhance the feature visually.
