Cutting paths for roughing and

residual material roughing are two of

the many strengths of WORKNC. The

strategy of waveform roughing, with

its even material removal, is one major

improvement over standard roughing

techniques. This results in extended tool

service life and shorter machining time.

FINISHING AND POST-MACHINING

A large number of finishing and

residual material strategies in

WORKNC enables users to effortlessly

WORKNC Auto 4 is a unique innovation

2 TO 5-AXIS MACHININGAutomated WORKNC CAD/CAM software for 2 to 5-axis machining has been continuously refined since

1988 and is now in use at thousands of companies in many different industries worldwide. With the

WORKNC CAM system, Hexagon offers the ideal software with which the user can generate collision-

free tool paths virtually at the push of a button. WORKNC’s multi-thread machining takes advantage of

the benefits of multi-core computers with rapid calculating and processing times. Preparation times

are also reduced thanks to predefined machining sequences and milling path calculations in batch

processing mode. WORKNC’s dynamic raw part management updates itself according to machining

process and supports any desired formed milling tools. The result is high-precision post-processing,

uniform stress on the tool and exceptionally reliable tool paths.

ROUGHING

Tool paths for roughing and residual material roughing

in WORKNC enable the removal of large amounts of raw

material in a single pass, and with great cut depths. In the

process, the dynamic raw part management ensures the

necessary precision in order to be able to work with small-

diameter tools as well.

TOOL PATH OPTIMISATION

Optimised tool paths for high-speed processing make it easy,

quick and safe to machine even the hardest of metals, and

thus reduce the need for electrical discharge machining.

COLLISION DETECTION

Expanded collision detection and prevention checks the part,

its holder, the tool machine itself and the machine limitation,

in order to generate absolutely dependable tool paths. It

automatically separates the collision-free segments of the

tool path from those with collision.

WORK PLAN PREPARATION

Programming means more than just creating tool paths.

WORKNC includes specialised CAM-oriented CAD functions,

programming.

CAD-DATEN

WORKNC can import model data of all leading CAD systems

and handle even the largest of files with ease. WORKNC

workds with all conventional neutral data formats, such as

IGES, STEP, STL, Parasolid and SolidWorks. Other interfaces

can be used for specific, native CAD files in order to read them

in. The CAD interfaces of WORKNC have been continuously

refined in order to offer optimall performance and reliability

when opening native CAD files. WORKNC’s CAD interfaces are

constantly updated so that they can handle the latest new

innovations in native file formats.

WORKNC VIEWER The milling path viewer of WORKNC is the ideal tool when

programming is not being carried out directly in the production

sector. This efficient and cost-effective product can be used to

open CAM files from WORKNC for viewing, analysis, simulation

and review and only post-process milling paths without

blocking an entire WORKNC programming licence to do so. *Only with Shop Floor Editor

WORKNC-SHOP FLOOR EDITOR

The Shop Floor Editor offers the same options as the

WORKNC viewer, but also enables adapting the cutting data

and generatin a new NC code (post-processor run). It is also

possible to save the changes made.

FINISHING MILLING PATHS Finishing milling paths comprise the

AUTOMATED 2-AXIS MACHINING

2-AXIS MACHINING User-defined machining templates are available for

programming 3D models. High-performance options speed up

programming for 2D geometries. WORKNC generates dynamic,

reliable milling paths with long tool service lives, even if the

geometry has surface flaws, such as holes or intersecting

surfaces.

The 2D machining strategies comprise the following points:

• Tangents to the curve

• Curve residual material machining

• Pocket milling

• Rib machining

• Planar milling in curves

• Drilling and tapping

FEATURE DETECTION

WORKNC feature detection automates the individual drilling

processes in components with many boreholes.

part, even at pitches
