PROCUREMENT & SUPPLY MANAGEMENT September 2016 – September 2021 Total funding: $30 million

USAID’s Global Health Supply Chain Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) project employs cutting-edge technologies and commercial best practices to increase the efficiency of health supply chains. The project ensures an uninterrupted supply of health commodities to people around the world, supporting U.S. global public health initiatives.

In Angola, PSM provides technical assistance to government ministries involved in public administration, financial management and other areas that play a role in strengthening health systems. Technical assistance to the Government of the Republic of Angola focuses primarily on support to the Ministry of Health and the Central Procurement Agency for Medicines and Medical Supplies Central Medical Store (CECOMA).

ACTIVITIES

• Support Ministry of Health and CECOMA through PEPFAR, PMI, and family planning and Reproductive Health) assisting in the further development of Government of the Republic of Angola institution building

• Improve strategic planning and implementation for supply chain management • Improved in-country logistics including effective and efficient delivery of health commodities to

service sites • Increased capacity building efforts by implementing strategies to transfer skills, knowledge, and

technology for improved performance • Strengthened enabling environments for improved performance • Innovations shared and implemented

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• 2.8 million mosquito nets delivered to five provinces for national campaign by May 2017

• 50 people trained on new PNME approved inventory management tools in six municipalities in Zaire province by May 2017

• Shipments of artesunate injectable were sent to 755 hospitals in all 18 provinces with infographics and printed materials to ensure effective administration

• Ongoing national mosquito net campaign distribution

• Distributing anti-malarias to the national hospitals for the first time in two years
